Too Late For Redemption Chapter 04

When she woke up, she was in the hospital.

“Ms. Evans, you’re finally awake.” The doctor let out a long sigh of relief. “This was a spontaneous hemorrhage caused by a coagulation disorder, a complication from your miscarriage.

Your morning sickness was already severe during your pregnancy, and you’ve suffered repeated trauma since the miscarriage. I’m afraid you may never be able to conceive again.”

Luna helplessly raised an arm to shield her tear-filled eyes.

When she was first hospitalized for severe morning sickness early in her pregnancy, Leo used to visit her often.

But gradually, the time he spent by her side dwindled.

By the time she realized what was happening, the man had already ended up in Mia’s bed

The agonizingly severe morning sickness and the retinal detachment surgery had left her completely colorblind. Her world was reduced to black, white, and gray—which was why she could only design clothes in monochrome, and why she could no longer distinguish traffic lights.

Leo hadn’t noticed any of this.

Because his gaze lingered only on Mia.

He escorted her to events, appearing as a couple everywhere, completely indifferent to the public mockery directed at his actual wife.

“Where is Leo? Did he come?”

“Mr. Carter accompanied Ms. Hall to a red carpet event. He said he’ll be back as soon as it’s over.”

Luna unlocked her phone.

A hashtag reading “Leo and Mia – A Perfect Match” sat high on the trending topics.

In the video, Leo was adjusting the hem of Mia’s dress, a gentle smile on his lips and tenderness in his eyes.

A flood of bullet‑screen comments flashed wildly across the video.

“Pure white? A suit and a white gown! Why is this giving me major wedding vibes?”

“Mr. Carter’s charming, affectionate eyes… forget Mia, even I’m falling for him!”

“Isn’t the bangle on Mia’s wrist the heirloom jade bangle the Carters pass down to daughters‑in‑law? I heard Arthur always refused to give it to Luna, so he gave it to Mia instead!”

The door creaked open, and Leo walked in.

Luna looked up at the suit he was wearing.

It was the one she had hand‑made for him for their wedding, a project that took her three whole months.

“You’re awake?”

The man strode closer and saw the girl scrolling through red carpet videos on her phone. Assuming Luna had accepted the situation, he curled his lips in satisfaction, sat on the chair by the hospital bed, and picked up a grape, patiently peeling it.

Luna calmly looked at the faded red rose on the chest of the man’s suit, and also thought of the bangle on Mia’s wrist that she hadn’t been able to get for years.

“Leo, the doctor said I can’t get pregnant again. Since you like Mia so much, why don’t you divorce me and marry her.”

The latter half of her sentence sounded exceptionally harsh to Leo.

His tone turned cold.

“I’m not divorcing you.”

Seeing the girl’s confused expression, the man crossed his arms and sneered.

“What’s so great about being Mrs. Carter? With the media watching and the family elders breathing down your neck, isn’t it better to let you deal with all that trouble? Doesn’t she live much more freely than you? Even if she isn’t my wife, I asked Arthur for the Carters’ heirloom jade bangle and gave it to Mia. Who would dare give her a hard time?”

Luna felt as if a bucket of ice water had been poured over her head.

Leo continued.

“You’re unhappy just because I used you a little? When you used your fans to harass Mia, why didn’t you think about how she felt?”

Luna gripped the blanket tightly.

“I told you those people weren’t…”

Mia pushed the door open and ran in, affectionately hugging the man’s waist.

“Leo, praise me! I went to see Luna’s mother tonight, and she praised me for being a good girl.”

Luna’s eyes instantly turned red.

She grabbed the plate at hand and smashed it fiercely at them.

“Leo! Do you treat me like some pet dog you’ve kept since childhood? Do you think I’m joking with you when I say I want a divorce!”

She got out of bed and threw the vases on the table in their direction.

“For fifteen years with you, I lost my career, ruined my health, and my mother passed away. After all this, do you still think I’m joking?”

The IV line on the back of her hand was ripped out, and porcelain shards from the vase slashed her arm, blood dripping down her pale fingertips onto the floor.

But Leo immediately shielded Mia behind him.

She remembered the time when she was fifteen, how Leo had shielded her from Richard’s club.

Luna took off the diamond ring from her left ring finger and hurled it fiercely at the mirror on the wall.

Mia screamed, but a smile touched the corners of her lips and a flash of malice crossed her eyes.

“Leo, she’s lying! I just went to see her mother! Ask the doctor if you don’t believe me!”

Yet Leo felt a sharp blow to his chest; sensing something was wrong, he frowned and glanced toward the door.
