I Was His Substitute Bride Chapter 27
Seeing me, Spencer stood up like a child caught misbehaving.
Right in front of him, I took a deep breath. Flipped the table.
Things scattered everywhere. Ted screamed in shock.
“Victoria, are you insane?”
He had never seen me use any violence. Usually, I spoke so softly, he’d forget I even existed.
Honestly, my heart was pounding too.
I forced an expression of fury onto my face. Confronted Spencer. “You really don’t see me as a stand-in? Then explain these photos.”
I pulled out my phone. Showed him the photos someone had secretly sent me. Intimate pictures of Spencer and Blair.
Afraid the photos leaking would hurt him, I’d only submitted the milder evidence during the divorce proceedings.
Spencer’s pupils constricted. “That’s not me. I have never been in close contact with Blair.”
He grabbed my hand. “Victoria, believe me. I’ll get to the bottom of this and show you.”
I gave a cold snort. “Spencer, I’m giving you this last chance.”
Turned and walked away.
Behind me, I heard Ted’s mutter. “Looks like Victoria actually has feelings for you. The robot got angry.”
I could only sigh, resigned.
All along, I’d believed that suppressing emotions, calmly and perfectly handling everything, was the most mature stance an adult should take.
Never knowing that letting people feel your emotions was just as crucial.
I loved Spencer. Loved that his joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness were all written on his face. Loved watching his vivid expressions.
This chance was for him. And for myself.
Maybe we really could make it to the end.
