He Chose His Secret Family So I Destroyed His World Chapter 15
After I was discharged from the hospital, I didn’t go home.
I retained the best criminal defense attorney in Boston and handed over the Ring footage, the yacht club surveillance, my medical report, and every last piece of related evidence to the district attorney’s office.
At the same time, I mailed two certified letters — one to the Massachusetts Bar Association, one to the state board of therapist licensure — each carrying a formal complaint of professional misconduct against Gideon Fenwick and Odette Langley.
On the day of the hearing, the weather was almost obscenely beautiful. Sunlight streamed through the courthouse’s solemn glass windows and settled across my shoulders.
Unlawful detention. Assault. Perjury. Obstruction of justice.
As each charge was read aloud, the lawyers for Damon, Seraphina, Gideon, and Odette urged them to take plea deals in exchange for lighter sentences.
Once sentencing was over, Gideon’s and Odette’s professional licenses were formally revoked.
I was turning to go when Odette hurried after me, tears pouring down her face.
“I know nothing I say now makes any difference,” she choked out. “But I still need you to know… I really did think of you as my best friend.”
