He Chose His Secret Family So I Destroyed His World Chapter 16

I looked at her in silence and said nothing.

Gideon walked over, his face even grayer than Odette’s, as though every last bit of strength had been drained out of him.

“Sabine,” he said hoarsely, “I know I don’t deserve to be your brother. I’m not asking to be forgiven. I only hope that… from here on, you’ll take good care of yourself. And that you’ll never trust someone like me again.”

When he finished, I calmly reached out, lifted Odette’s fingers from my arm one by one, and gently set her hand aside.

Then I stepped back, opening up distance between us.

Looking at their devastated faces, I said just two words.

“Fine.”

“Goodbye.”

Then, under their stunned stares, I added one last line.

“Don’t come looking for me again.”

I didn’t look back. I turned and walked out of the courthouse into the harsh sunlight. A black car was already waiting at the curb.

I got in, and it pulled away smoothly, leaving everything behind for good.

I never looked back.
