Break Up With My Cruel Fiancé He Regretted It Chapter 06
He stared at the name, his eyes full of anger.
Salvatore — the most powerful man in Chicago and the current head of the Tutheridge family.
He was a man even Agustin would bow to.
How could Adelynn possibly know him?
How could she be marrying him?
Benicio’s hands began to shake uncontrollably.
He snatched up the invitation and bolted out of the shop. The invitation had Salvatore’s name printed in elegant gold lettering alongside Adelynn’s. His blood ran cold. This wasn’t a prank. This was real.
But Adelynn was nowhere to be seen.
“Where is Lynn? Where did she go?” he roared at the shop assistant.
The assistant trembled in terror. “Ms. Billingsley just took a taxi to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.”
Benicio rushed out into the rain. He abandoned his car and flagged down a taxi on the roadside.
“Northwestern Memorial Hospital! Hurry!”
He dialed Adelynn’s number repeatedly in the car.
“The number you’re calling is currently busy.”
All he heard were busy signals.
He buried his head in his hands, his breath coming fast and ragged.
The image of Adelynn collapsing on the ground, covered in blood, kept replaying in his mind.
“It can’t be true. She’s just lying to me.
“She loved me so much. She would never marry someone else.”
The taxi pulled up at the hospital entrance.
Benicio threw down a hundred-dollar bill and rushed toward the inpatient ward.
He headed straight for the intensive care unit, where Mitchell stayed.
The moment he reached the door, two bodyguards in black suits blocked his path.
“Stop. No unauthorized personnel allowed.”
The guards were tall and broad, with sharp, piercing eyes. They were clearly professionals. Their suits were tailored, their earpieces gleaming. These weren’t ordinary security guards — they were Tutheridge family operatives.
With bloodshot eyes, Benicio tried to force his way in.
“Get out of my way! I’m Lynn’s fiancé!”
“Who do you think you are?!”
The bodyguard delivered a sharp kick straight to his knee.
Caught off guard, Benicio crumpled to the floor with a heavy thud.
His kneecap struck the hard tile, making a dull sound that echoed through the corridor. Pain shot up his leg, but he barely registered it. All he could think about was getting to Adelynn.
The door to the room swung open.
Mitchell sat in a wheelchair, pushed by a nurse.
Though he was blind, his hearing was exceptionally sharp. He could detect the slightest change in someone’s breathing, the faintest shuffle of feet.
“Benicio Gudgion?”
Mitchell’s voice was bone-chilling. It carried the weight of decades of authority and the cold fury of a man who had seen his granddaughter destroyed.
Ignoring the searing pain in his knees, Benicio scrambled toward the wheelchair.
“Mr. Billingsley, it’s me. Where’s Lynn? I need to see Lynn.”
Mitchell raised his cane and lashed it harshly across Benicio’s back.
“You beast!
“How dare you show your face here?
“For five years, you’ve trampled on her.
“You treated her like a dog, tossing her scraps when you were happy and abusing her when you were not.
“You drove her from your home for the sake of a secretary and destroyed her office.
“You even used my life to threaten her, forcing her to kneel before others!”
With every word Mitchell spoke, his cane came crashing down hard. Each strike landed with precision, leaving fresh welts across Benicio’s back. The old man might have been blind, but his aim was unerring.
Benicio didn’t flinch. He gritted his teeth and endured it as fresh, bloody welts bloomed across his back.
He knelt on the ground, tears and rain streaming down his face.
“Mr. Billingsley, I’m sorry. I truly know I was wrong.
“I never meant for her to bleed like that. I only wanted to scare her.
“Please let me see her. I can’t live without her!”
