Abandoned By My Alpha And Pup Now Their Rival’s Luna Chapter 11
FEVER DREAMSÂ
Grayson shoots up from his chair and sprints into the nursery.
Leo is thrashing on the bed, his small face flushed a dangerous shade of crimson. He’s delirious, mumbling broken words through his fevered pants.
“Mom… Mom, don’t go…”
Grayson snatches Leo into his arms and rushes downstairs.
On the frantic drive to the pack hospital, Leo curls into his chest, his hot breath hitching as he speaks to ghosts in his sleep.
“Auntie Serena said… said Mom is a filthy rogue… told me to pull… pull that tube…”
Grayson’s arms turn to stone.
“She said if I pull the tube… the old cripple will die… and Mom will leave…”
“Grandma isn’t a cripple… she made me a winter coat…”
“Mom… Mom, I’m sorry… don’t leave me…”
Leo’s voice grows fainter, tears leaking from his tightly shut eyes. Even out of his mind with fever, he’s still crying for her.
Grayson looks down at Leo, his heart suddenly seized in a brutal grip.
Pull the tube?
A memory hits him like a freight train.
Months ago, Lyra had a severe medical emergency. Her oxygen tube was mysteriously disconnected, and she nearly died.
Maeve had cried so hard that day her throat bled.
It was the only reason he finally agreed to let Leo move back into her quarters temporarily.
But shortly after… came the third motel raid. The third time she was caught.
And just like that, she abandoned her pup.
She didn’t even react yesterday when Leo spat right in her face.
Spit…
He frowns deeply.
He suddenly realizes-when did his pup become like this?
When did a four-year-old learn to spit on his own mother and call her a whore?
The SUV screeches to a halt at the hospital. The healers rush Leo into the emergency ward.
Grayson leans against the cold wall of the corridor, his fingers trembling uncontrollably.
He pulls out his phone and stares at the sent messages on the screen.
He realizes with a sickening dread that if even his pup’s life-threatening fever can’t bring her back, then nothing in this world ever will.
The hallway is dead silent. He closes his eyes.
His mind is flooded with images of Maeve crying and begging him.
The first time she was framed… the second time… and the day her mother nearly died…
