When We Met Again Our Son Was Five Chapter 02

Tristan’s gaze was already sweeping over this way.

Monica walked up to me, holding Lucas’ hand. “Lucas had a little misunderstanding with that gentleman earlier, and I wanted to tell you what happened…”

With my back to Tristan, I lowered my voice as much as I could.

“I have an emergency right now. It’s really urgent. Could I get in touch with you later?”

Monica paused, looked at my expression, then looked behind me.

“But…”

I made up an excuse off the top of my head, bent down, and scooped Lucas into my arms.

Lucas obediently wrapped his arms around my neck, his face completely blank with confusion.

I turned and ducked into the alley beside us, then rushed him home.

Lucas slid down from my arms and looked up at me.

“That guy kept looking at you earlier. When you left, he stared at your back for a really long time.”

I didn’t say anything. I was about to shut the door when a hand pressed against it from outside.

Josephine stood in the doorway, smiling with smug, fake sweetness.

“Nessa, it really is you. It’s been so long.

“Well, no wonder Tris didn’t recognize you. You don’t look anything like the high-and-mighty heiress from back then.”

Lucas poked half his head out from behind my legs. His little face was tense, and he stared at her with wide eyes.

Josephine noticed his stare, lowered her head to look at him, and smiled.

“Which man gave you this little bastard?”

I rolled my eyes so hard and cut her off, “Are you finished?”

The smile on her face stiffened for a split second. Then, she pulled a gold-embossed invitation from her bag and handed it over.

“Nessa, tomorrow is my wedding with Tris. Mom and Dad said that you were the daughter they raised for 20 years. Even though you’re not their biological daughter, they still hope you’ll come.”

Josephine shoved the invitation into my hand and leaned close to my ear.

“By the way, I still have those drawings of yours.”

I raised an eyebrow.

Josephine took a step back. A polished, proper smile sat on her face, but her eyes were vicious.

“You left in such a hurry back then. There were probably more than 20 drawings in that manila envelope, and they were all from when you were in high school.”

Josephine tilted her head, smiling brightly.

“I heard you were originally going to apply to art school. What a shame. Back then, I was the one who told Mom and Dad to cut off every bit of your money, and that’s why you couldn’t go to school anymore.

“I flipped through those drawings a few times. They were all explicit pictures of Tris, weren’t they?”

I narrowed my eyes at her. “What do you want? I already left the Keller family. After all these years, you still won’t let me go?”

She let out a smug laugh.

“Nessa, you stole my identity for so many years. This is barely the beginning.

“If you come to the wedding next Saturday, I’ll give those drawings back to you in person. If you don’t come, I’ll show them to everyone at the wedding and let everyone see how disgusting you are.”

I burst out laughing.

“Fine. Show them to everyone, then. Let everyone see his nude pictures.”

Josephine froze for a moment, and then her face flushed bright red.

“You’re utterly shameless!”

I laughed, pulled out my phone, and waved it. “By the way, I’ve got more if you don’t think that’s explosive enough. Back then, he and I…you know. Do you want to see that, too?”

The truth was that I didn’t have anything, but playing dirty had always been my specialty.

Josephine’s face turned red with rage.

“Vanessa, you’re shameless!”

I tilted my head and smiled. “You’re a cowardly dog if you don’t show everyone my masterpiece.”

She shook all over from anger, pointing at me for a long time without managing to get out a single word.

“Mom and Dad really spoiled you rotten. You’ve been out of the family for so many years, and you still haven’t learned to tone down that temper of yours. Just you wait!”

She gritted her teeth, shot me a vicious glare, and turned to leave.

I shouted after her, “I’ll definitely be there tomorrow. Show those drawings if you’ve got the guts!”

Lucas poked his head out from behind the door.

“Mom, what did you draw?”

I pinched his little cheek. “I’m taking you to a wedding feast tomorrow.”
