Too Late For Redemption Chapter 10
“Please ask Mr. William for the details!”
Doubts sprouted in Luna’s mind, but she still didn’t ask.
Her physical condition simply didn’t allow it.
In truth, her energy levels only permitted her to stay awake for a very short period each day; not long after waking, she would fall back into a deep slumber.
This went on for three whole months.
It wasn’t until summer arrived that she could barely manage to stay awake for an entire day, strolling through the massive estate with William supporting her.
At first, her grandfather and grandmother frequently took international flights to visit, but eventually, her grandmother just stayed behind in Florence.
There were very few people in the manor, only the two of them as the hosts, and William.
The three of them lived freely in this foreign land, and no one ever deliberately brought up the past.
Handing out candy to kids on Halloween; the old lady personally cooking turkey and Country-style Skillet Chicken for Thanksgiving; and that cozy Christmas Day, which also happened to be Luna’s birthday.
The old lady happily invited a houseful of neighbors and friends to throw a party in celebration.
Luna invited William to join them.
She pushed open the door to William’s room and looked around.
Seeing no one, she was just about to leave when she noticed a video playing on the TV – it was her final curtain call, the grand show she hadn’t attended.
Pure black and white fabrics; she hadn’t even mixed in a single shade of gray.
Because she didn’t know how her color perception was, she hadn’t dared to mix and match.
The girl couldn’t help but sit down and watch the entire show, right up until the venue in the video suddenly suffered a power outage.
By the time she snapped back to reality, her face was already covered in tears.
Someone was shaking her shoulders.
“Ms. Evans, Luna!”
She hastily wiped her tears away, only then realizing it was William.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to.
Um, Grandma is calling you to join the party…”
The girl’s face was flushed red from crying.
William worriedly checked the temperature on her forehead, then wiped away her tears, took her hand, and smiled.
“Let’s go.
You’re the princess of the party today.”
Luna took his hand, though her smiles at the party were a bit forced.
After her grandmother went to rest, she walked up to the rooftop alone to catch some breeze.
A moment later, William arrived on the terrace with a can of beer and handed it to Luna.
“Dr. Jenny said your body is recovering well, so you can have a little bit.”
Luna took it and took a sip.
“On behalf of Dr. Jenny, I’m supposed to thank you properly!”
William took off his suit jacket and draped it over the girl’s shoulders.
“It’s my absolute duty to keep such a beauty in this world, plus your family has always looked out for me!”
He took a sip of whiskey.
“You probably already know I’m the illegitimate son of a tycoon.
After being claimed and abandoned time and again, it was your grandparents who took me in.”
Luna nodded.
Her vision was exceptionally poor in the dark, and she fumbled for a long moment before finally patting his shoulder in comfort.
After a long pause, the man spoke.
“Ms. Evans, I absolutely loved your designs from that grand runway show, which is why I downloaded the video to watch it over and over.
I’m truly sorry for accidentally breaking your heart!”
Luna shook her head.
Leaning against the railing, she looked toward the blurry silhouette beside her.
“William, could you please tell me what color my gown is today?”
Luna’s outfits were all put together by the maids.
Terrified of looking strange, she tried her hardest not to care and never asked about them.
But the moment she remembered and saw the clothes she had once designed with her own hands, she couldn’t pretend anymore.
William leaned in and wrapped an arm around her shoulders.
“The star of the day, of course, must wear fiery red!”
“From now on, remember this: if the sky is clear, it’s sky blue; if it’s overcast and raining, it’s larch green; if you’re in a good mood, it’s firework red; and if you ever want to keep things simple, it’s black, white, and gray!”
“Now you get to color your own world.
You’re more special and free than any of us!”
He gave Luna a bright, wide smile, moving the girl so deeply she wanted to cry.
