The Esports Superstar Is Mine Chapter 04
With a helpless sigh, he took two steps forward, standing right in front of me.
“You’re drunk.”
The streetlights cast a warm glow on his face, making him look absurdly handsome.
Without thinking, I leaned in and kissed him. The woody scent of pine, mixed with a trace of alcohol, invaded my senses.
His hot lips wrapped around mine as our breaths intertwined.
Exhausted from all that bending, I rested my hands on his shoulders and whined, “You don’t even remember me.”
Killian froze. His throat tightened. He gazed at me, both shocked by the kiss and confused by my words.
From above, I leapt into his arms, buried my face in his neck, and patted his back reassuringly. “It’s gonna be alright,” I murmured. “You’re amazing, Killian. Truly the best esports player I’ve ever seen.”
Waves of electricity raced down the back of Killian’s neck and into his chest. He wanted to hug me, but didn’t dare.
I woke up in bed, my skull splitting with every heartbeat.
I checked my phone and saw it was already noon.
The memories of last night came rushing back.
I… I really kissed Killian and made a scene. Didn’t that just prove I was a creep?
But judging from his reaction, he didn’t seem to hate it. He even held my waist, which was more than I could have wished for.
I was hugging my blanket and giggling like a schoolgirl when Philip phoned me.
“I’m taking Ella out for a date. If you get bored, go hang out with Killian. I’ve already spoken to him. This is his number.”
Best brother ever!
I quickly got out of bed, took a shower, freshened up, and put on some light makeup.
I even texted Killian in advance, just to be polite.
Me: “Hey, it’s Sylvia. Are we leaving now?”
Killian: “Yes.”
I opened the door to find Killian standing outside. He wore a windbreaker and work boots. The zipper was pulled to the top, highlighting the chiseled line of his jaw.
An awkward silence hung over the ride. I wanted to ask about last night, but I couldn’t find the courage to.
Killian seemed much more at ease, though he was still aloof and barely spoke to me.
By the time we arrived, I realized he had brought me to a Yellowjackets reunion. It wouldn’t just be the two of us.
Daniel Emerson, his former teammate, was a gossip hound, his eyes wandering between us before settling on me. “Hi, Sylvia. Guys, Killian’s girlfriend is here,” he shouted.
Instantly, the room exploded into chaos as everyone flocked to us, drowning us in questions and pleasantries.
I bit my lip, unsure how to respond. All I felt was heat rising through me.
Daniel leaned in and asked, “Sylvia, have we met before? You look so familiar.
“Holy shit! I just remembered! Killian brought you to the match two years ago. I knew I had seen you before. So, you two were already hooking up back then.”
He rambled on, and I didn’t even know where to start.
Killian chuckled and shot back, “Hooking up? What are you talking about? I don’t remember anything like that.
“She’s my roommate’s sister, not my girlfriend. Cut the jokes and act properly.”
Did he genuinely have no recollection of me?
I clenched my fists, masking my disappointment behind a smile. Tilting my head, I said, “I’ve watched your matches before. And no, I’m not his girlfriend. I just heard there was a party today and decided to crash it. Is that okay?”
My voice was soft, which sounded almost flirtatious. Daniel immediately blushed and invited me to take a seat.
Killian’s throat tightened. His brows drew together, barely noticeable.
I did my best to stay invisible during the meal and listened to their conversation.
“Darion, that piece of shit! He’s the reason Killian left the team.”
“Yeah, man. What did he say that made you so angry? We all wanted to help, but we didn’t know how.”
Killian sipped his drink and glanced up nonchalantly.
“It’s all in the past. Not worth bringing it up.
“That prick likes to play dirty. Stay sharp during the game. Especially Daniel. I know you’re eager to defeat him, but that makes you sloppy, and he’ll use it against you. Don’t give him the chance.”
His eyes gleamed dangerously, as if the former captain of Yellowjackets had returned.
His presence left me shaken, and it took me a while to compose myself.
After he spoke, he put a piece of meat on my plate. “Hey, earth to Sylvia! Eat up! You’ve barely touched your food.”
Flustered, I gave a small grunt and took a bite. The meat tasted sweet and sour.
My heart stirred, but I warned myself not to fall for him. He was only looking after me, and there was nothing more to it.
