I Walked Away And He Fell Apart Chapter 10

Nathaniel was, without a doubt, a man of his word.

The following day dawned with an air of anticipation, as he called for a board meeting that would forever alter the course of the Harrington Group. With a calm demeanor, he announced his resignation as CEO, citing “personal health reasons.” The room fell silent, the gravity of his words sinking in, before chaos erupted. His departure sent ripples of shock through the ranks, igniting a frenzy of whispers and speculation.

As I settled into my new role, the first order of business was to overhaul Nathaniel’s entourage of female secretaries. I envisioned a fresh start, so I swiftly replaced them with a team of all-male secretaries. Each one towered over six-foot-two, boasting master’s degrees from prestigious universities and sculpted physiques that would make anyone take a second glance.

[Hahahaha, well done! Isn’t this so much better than looking at that bitch?]

[I declare, the Harrington Group is now my dream company!]

With a sense of satisfaction, I turned my attention to the next target: Isabella.

When I summoned her to pack her belongings and vacate the premises that very day, she was livid. She stormed into my office, ready to unleash her fury, but my two new, strikingly handsome bodyguards swiftly intervened. They grabbed her by the arms and tossed her out the office doors as if she were nothing more than an unwanted piece of refuse.

Not long after this dramatic exit, my phone buzzed with an incoming video call. To my surprise, it was Isabella.

She stood outside the familiar villa gate, her makeup flawlessly applied, a provocative smile plastered across her face. “Lilith,” she taunted, “you think you’ve won? The one Nathaniel loves is me. Even if you have absolute control at the company, he still…”

Before she could complete her sentence, the gate swung open.

There stood Nathaniel, clad in my pink teddy bear apron, wielding a feather duster as if it were a sword.

It had been half a month since I had seen him, and he looked different—his face fuller, perhaps a bit softer.

In an instant, the smile on Isabella’s face froze, her confidence shattered.

Nathaniel’s gaze fell on her, and his expression shifted to one of irritation. “What are you doing here? Get lost.”

With that, he slammed the door shut with a resounding “bang.”

On the other end of the video call, Isabella’s face morphed from shock to fury, her features twisting in disbelief. She screamed at the screen, her voice a mixture of rage and desperation: “Lilith! What kind of siren’s tricks did you use?!”

[Pfft—I declare this the best on-screen meltdown of the year!]

[That look of disgust from the scumbag, hahahaha, he’s even wearing his wife’s apron!]

[Hehe, we’re the little demons whispering in our queen’s ear. Are you scared, scumbag?]

I couldn’t help but chuckle at the comments flooding in, a silent smile dancing on my lips.

Not demons at all.

You are… the best people.

288 Sunhers.

I had no desire to indulge in Isabella’s meltdown any longer. With a cool demeanor, I said, “Anything else? If not, I’m hanging up. My new secretary is already rushing me for a meeting.”

“Lilith! You just wait! I won’t let you get away with this!”

I scoffed, my confidence unwavering: “Bring it on, if you’ve got the guts.”

With that, I ended the call, feeling a surge of triumph.

However, to my surprise, she did possess a certain level of audacity.

Not long after, my chief secretary knocked on my office door, his expression grave.

“Ms. Wallace, something’s happened.”

My heart raced as he continued, “The rival group just snatched the South City project we’ve been preparing for half a year.”

My eyes narrowed, a sense of urgency washing over me.

He handed me the file, his voice trembling slightly as he explained, “The bid they submitted was only one hundred thousand higher than our base bid.”

The precision of that figure felt unnervingly suspicious, as if they had somehow anticipated our every move.

[Holy shit! Queen, that bitch Isabella did this!]

[The base bid for this project was set when Nathaniel was still in charge. She must have stolen the data long ago!]

[Don’t panic, Queen! We’re all here!]

I paused for a moment, my mind racing with possibilities. Then, without hesitation, I decided to inform Nathaniel about the shocking turn of events.
