I Never Loved You Anyway Chapter 11

I Never Loved You Anyway Chapter 11

Watching him break down like that, I felt absolutely nothing. Honestly, it was almost funny.

“Logan, do you still not get it?” I sighed. “I never loved you.”

Logan froze, staring at me blankly like the words just weren’t computing.

“I only agreed to the match because I thought the guy in the picture was Wolf — Micah,” I told him, dropping the harsh truth on him point-blank. “On our wedding day, you looked disappointed when you saw me. Well, I felt the exact same way. I knew immediately you weren’t him. Your eyes, your heartbeat — none of it was right.

“For the last year, you treated me like ice and used me as a stand-in for Genevieve. The truth is, I only ever saw you as a stand-in for Micah, too.

“Neither of us has any right to point fingers.”

All the color dropped from Logan’s face.

The reality of just how stupid he’d been was finally sinking in.

He thought he had reluctantly settled for a woman hopelessly devoted to him, only to find out I hadn’t cared about him for a second.

He thought he’d missed his shot with the woman who actually saved his life, only to realize he’d personally handed her right over to his own brother.

“No… that isn’t true,” Logan yelled, grabbing at his hair in desperation.

Suddenly, his head snapped up, his eyes wild and frantic.

“You’re mine! We already signed the bonding pact — you’re my mate! Nobody is taking you away from me!”

He lashed out, violently unleashing his mental power as a white werewolf to try and take me back by force.

Micah’s eyes went cold, ready to strike, but I just laid a gentle hand over his.

A split second later, my own mental power erupted. It was more than ten times stronger than Logan’s, slamming into him like a physical weight.

He let out a choked groan, instantly pinned to the floor and completely paralyzed.

He stared up at me, terrified. “Your mental power… I thought it was gone.”

I smirked down at him.

“Who told you I lost it? Saving you took a lot out of me back then, but I’m a level-SS. A few years of rest and I was doing much better.

“I only kept it hidden because dealing with you wasn’t worth the effort. Did you honestly think you could mark me with your weak level-A mental power?”

The last bit of hope drained right out of him. He just lay there on the ground, looking thoroughly defeated.

Micah stared him down. “Accept it, Logan. You know how it works in this world — mates couldn’t be legally divorced; they were only separated by death.

“If you don’t want me walking around with the stigma of killing my own brother, put in for a transfer to the border. And don’t ever come back.”

A week later, Logan voluntarily applied to military command for a post at the most dangerous interstellar border.

It was a zone in constant warfare with an exceptionally low survival rate. Under werebeast law, a deployment like that essentially counted as losing a spouse.

He came to see me one last time before shipping out.

He’d lost a ton of weight, and his eyes were completely empty — stripped of all the arrogant confidence he used to carry as a white werewolf.

“I hope you find happiness, Roxie,” he said, his voice flat. Then he turned around and boarded the starship.

I didn’t say a word. I just stood there quietly, watching the ship lift off and disappear into the sky.

Honestly, I didn’t hate him. If I hadn’t gone through all that mess, I never would have found Wolf again.

One year later.

I was sitting on the porch swing out in the yard, soaking up the sun and snacking on strawberries.

Micah walked out of the house wearing a pink apron, carrying a plate of freshly washed grapes.

“Here, open up,” he said, peeling a grape and holding it to my lips.

I bit down, gently catching the tip of his finger with my teeth.

He sucked in a sharp breath, his eyes darkening instantly.

Behind him, his big, silvery-white tail started wagging like crazy, brushing against my calf and tickling my skin.

“Roxanne, you’re pushing your luck again,” he warned, his voice going rough.

I smiled and wrapped my arms around his neck. “What, are you mad about it, puppy?”

He let out a helpless sigh and leaned down to kiss me.

“Not even a little. I’m yours for the rest of my life.”

The sunlight was perfect, the breeze gentle and mild.

Every past regret, every missed chance — it was all finally resolved in this one moment.

No more settling. No more stand-ins.

Just him, and his heartbeat.

The End.
