Break Up With My Cruel Fiancé He Regretted It Chapter 08
I wrenched my hands free, grabbed a disinfectant wipe from the bedside table, and scrubbed the skin he had touched.
“Benicio, you’re utterly shameless.
“When I stayed by your side, you treated me like trash.
“I begged for your attention, clinging to you like a stray dog, but how did you repay me?
“Now that I’ve let you go, you come crawling back and faking your devotion.
“Do you think this pathetic act is touching?
“It only makes me sick.”
Watching my disgusted reaction, Benicio’s face drained of all color. His lips parted, but no words came out.
“Lynn, you’re still angry with me, aren’t you?
“You can hit me or scream at me, do anything you want. But don’t play with your future.
“A man like Salvatore is cold and ruthless. How could he ever truly care for you?
“He’s only using you to settle old scores.
“What could he possibly want from you? You’re a penniless girl with nothing left.”
I stared at his outburst, finding the whole scene absurd.
“What does he want from me?
“You’ll never understand, Benicio.
“Even if he’s only using me, he still gave me the dignity of being human.
“But you? You treated me like I was nothing.”
I pointed toward the door.
“Get out.”
Benicio shot to his feet and tried to pull me into his arms.
“I’m not leaving! Lynn, you’re coming back with me today!”
Before his hands could touch my shoulders, the door was kicked open with a violent crash.
Salvatore strode inside.
Two bodyguards following close behind him stepped forward at once. They pinned Benicio’s shoulders and forced him to his knees.
A sharp cry of pain escaped Benicio.
Salvatore walked to the bedside and shielded me behind him.
He looked down at Benicio on the floor. His gaze was cold and disdainful, as if he were staring at a pile of rotting trash.
“Mr. Gudgion, you certainly have peculiar tastes.
“You could live comfortably as a CEO, yet you sneak onto the Tutheridge family’s territory disguised as a caregiver.
“It seems the Gudgion Group is truly on the brink of bankruptcy if its chief executive is scrambling for odd jobs.”
Benicio thrashed wildly, his eyes bloodshot as he glared at Salvatore. “Salvatore! Stop pretending like you’re a good guy!”
“What right do you have to steal my woman? Lynn is mine! She’s loved me for five years!”
Salvatore let out a cold laugh. He lifted his polished leather shoe and pressed it down mercilessly on the back of Benicio’s hand, grinding it into the floor.
Benicio let out a shrill, agonized scream.
Salvatore’s voice remained flat and icy to the bone.
“Your woman?
“Tomorrow morning at ten, Lynn will be my wife.
“As for you, drag this trash out.
“I don’t want my wife having to look at this trash any longer.”
The bodyguards hauled Benicio away. He twisted back in despair, his gaze locked firmly on me.
“Lynn! You can’t marry him!
“You’ll regret this!”
The door slammed shut, cutting off his frantic shouts.
Salvatore turned around. He picked up a damp towel and gently wiped my wrist where Benicio had touched me.
“Did he hurt you?”
I shook my head and leaned into his arms.
“No.
“Thank you, Salvatore.”
His arms wrapped around me, strong and steady. For the first time in years, I felt safe.
