Accidentally Dating The Esports Pro Chapter 15
The amusement park was packed, probably because it was Valentine’s Day. Couples were everywhere we looked. Bryson and I tried to navigate the crowd, but the sheer number of people kept pushing us apart.
Deciding to just go for it, I reached out and grabbed his hand. He looked at me, surprised. My face flushed as I whispered, “Just so we don’t lose each other.”
Bryson paused for a second, then gave me a wide smile and squeezed my hand. “Then I’m going to hold on tight so we don’t get separated.”
We hit almost every ride in the park, easily agreeing on what to do next. Without even having to talk about it, we saved the Ferris wheel for last.
Once it got dark, we finally got on. It was said online that sharing a ride on a Ferris wheel meant a relationship would last forever.
Bryson sat across from me, blinking nervously. “Babe, I told you earlier I had something to tell you.”
I looked at him and nodded.
His expression turned serious. “Actually, I’ve liked you for a long time. Since high school, really.”
My eyes widened. Wait, what? Wasn’t I supposed to be the one confessing first?
Bryson went on. “You might not remember, but we actually met a long time ago. One rainy day, my puppy got out. I looked for hours and couldn’t find him. When it finally got dark, I spotted him under the awning of a coffee shop. He was hurt, but he was lying so quietly in your arms. You were bandaging his leg and talking softly to him. I remember thinking how incredibly lucky I was—not just because I found my dog, but because I’d found someone so genuinely kind.”
He gave a shy smile. “I asked the shop owner for your name, and after that, I started looking out for you. I went to every performance you did at school. You sing so beautifully. On New Year’s Eve, I finally decided to tell you how I felt. But that exact same morning, I got an invite to try out for DK Esports. My parents absolutely refused to let me go pro, but after a massive blowout, I went to the training facility anyway.”
“My whole life became nothing but practice. That’s when I realized how brutal competitive gaming is—if you don’t perform, you get dropped immediately. I told myself I needed to put in the work and actually achieve something before I was worthy of dating you.”
Bryson pressed his lips together. “Then, during this last off-season, I saw your picture on a gaming forum. I hesitated for a while before sending you a friend request. I thought I was unbelievably lucky to be dating you online, even after I realized I was actually talking to your brother at first. I didn’t want to end it, though. I just wanted to keep talking to you. Babe, I really like you. Do you want to be my girlfriend?”
My heart pounded. All those years I’d been admiring him, he’d been noticing me, too.
I leaned forward and wrapped my arms around him. “Of course I do. Bryson, I really like you, too!”
The Ferris wheel reached the very top, giving us a perfect view of the city skyline. Pushing past my nerves, I whispered, “I heard that couples who kiss at the top of a Ferris wheel stay together forever. Honey, maybe we…”
Before I could even finish, a flushed Bryson leaned in and kissed me.
