Accidentally Dating The Esports Pro Chapter 13

After that day, Bryson went all out. If I casually liked an ad for a necklace on social media, that exact necklace would be delivered to me the very next day. On top of that, a fresh, unique flower arrangement showed up at my door every single morning.

Right after I signed for another one of his packages, my phone buzzed with a text from him. “Today I was hauling heavy sacks at a construction site. I carried three loads at once. A coworker told me I could handle a lot of weight. I suddenly got really emotional. It’s true—I can carry all that physical weight, but I can’t bear the weight of missing you.”

I couldn’t help but laugh out loud. Where on earth was he getting these incredibly cheesy pickup lines?

Ethen wandered out of his room, stifling a yawn. He peeked over at my phone screen with mild curiosity. “Another text from Bryson?”

I quickly shielded the screen. “What?”

Ethen flashed a mischievous grin, snatched the phone right out of my hands, and held it high above his head. Since he was much taller than me, there was no way I could reach it.

“Allie, you don’t have to be so shy all the time,” he teased. “Why can’t you just say what’s actually on your mind? Here, I’ll text him for you.”

He tapped out a quick message before handing the phone back. I stared at the screen in horror. Ethen had replied to Bryson, “I miss you too!”

I scrambled to unsend it, but Bryson’s response popped up before I had the chance. “Wow, babe, you miss me too? You’re finally being straightforward, and I’m really glad. I’m so happy right now!” He followed it up with a sticker of a dog rolling on the floor.

Ethen let out a soft laugh. “See? Told you. Look how happy that made him. You should be sweet to him like this more often, Allie!”

It hit me then that I’d always been hesitant and insecure when it came to Bryson. I constantly felt like I wasn’t good enough for him, and it kept me from showing him how I truly felt.

I decided right then that things had to change—I needed to be direct about my feelings. I lightly tapped Bryson’s dog profile picture on the screen. The truth was, I miss you too was exactly what I’d wanted to say to him anyway.
