Abandoned Luna’s Revenge Chapter 61
Logan’s POV
Lyra and Truett sat in the backseat of the SUV, and every time I glanced in the rearview mirror, I caught them steal- ing touches. It was obvious that they were completely in love. Their fingers interlocked, separating only when they thought someone might notice. But then they found another excuse to touch again.
Watching them warmed me inside it gave me a kind of comfort I hadn’t realized I needed until now. I wasn’t alone in this new chapter of my life, and knowing that she was going through it with me made everything easier to bear.
She chatted endlessly as we drove, She spoke about what life would be like here, what new things she wanted to try, how she couldn’t wait to see every corner of the Iron Viper territory. Truett listened to her every word.
By the time we crossed the boundary and the Iron Viper Pack came into view, I understood why it bore such a fierce name. The territory was massive. Buildings and training grounds sprawled across wide stretches of land. The pack- house itself loomed ahead like a fortress.
“Oh my God! It’s huge!” Lyra breathed, her nose pressed against the window like a child. “You never told me your pack house was this big!”
Truett laughed, “Well I wanted to surprise you.”
The two of them continued chatting sweetly, but when I turned to Logan I saw the clouds in his eyes.
I reached over and touched his arm. He looked at my hand and his tense expression softened slightly as he focused his gaze on the road again. He knew what I was asking before the question left mouth.
“I’m just thinking about all the things I’ve got to get sorted once we’re back” he said with a sigh “thanks to Clarisse and Glen, things are worse than ever.”
I looked at him carefully, sensing the frustration that weighed heavily on him. I gently stroked his arm, waiting for him to continue and offering a listening ear.
He exhaled, “They made it look like I didn’t have my pack’s interests at heart, they sabotaged my projects.” His jaw tensed and his fingers gripped the steering wheel tightly. “Even projects I had personally promised my people are still unfinished. I had envisioned a time that my pack members would be able to enjoy their days off in peace. That their kids could play in the playground without fear, That they could feel safe in their own territory. That’s what they de- serve, and that’s what I failed to give them because of those two.”
The weight in his tone was impossible to ignore. He cared so deeply it almost broke me to see the anger in his eyes.
“We’ll do it together,” I told him. “We’ll rebuild this place into what you always wanted. Our kids will play on that playground with their peers. You don’t have to carry it all on your shoulders anymore.”
His gaze softened as he looked at me, and I could tell my words had soothed him even if for a moment. He wasn’t alone anymore either.
As we drove further in, an idea sparked in my mind. “You know,” I said, “it rains a lot around here. What if indoor amenities?”
He brows twitched and he turned to me as if asking me to go on.
“Think about it, constructing a playground is nice and all for when the sun’s out, but what of the times when it’s rain- ing, the fun doesn’t have to end when the rain starts. You could open a center with a bowling alley, an arcade, maybe a climbing wall. And a theater just for the pack. It’d give people somewhere to go plus it can also be like an ‘I;m sorry’ from the Alpha.”
His lips twitched and I saw a faint smile crease his lips.
“Oh oh And a library,” I added quickly, smiling at the thought. “A big one. With a children’s corner. God there’s gonna be so many books.”
Logan smiled then and chuckled a bit then he shook his head “Honestly I don’t know what I was worried about, ev- erything’s going to be just fine with you with me.”
When we pulled into the packhouse drive, I noticed the crowd waiting. Wolves of all ages gathered outside, buzzing with curiosity. The moment Logan and I stepped out, murmurs rippled through them, but when their eyes fell on me, the sound shifted.
They greeted me warmly, most of them smiling and polite. Many offered kind words to Lyra and Lanie as well, wel- coming us with genuine friendliness. But not everyone was pleased. A few female wolves in the crowd narrowed their eyes, their gazes sharp with jealousy. They said nothing, but I knew my very presence offended them.
I didn’t let it bother me. I could handle a little hostility. After all, I had won the best mate of them all, and nothing they did could change that.
When the crowd finally dispersed, I stayed behind to help Logan with my bags. Carter handed the keys to my car to one of the soldiers and had him drive it straight to the garage. Logan led me upstairs to his room, telling me to unpack and make myself at home.
His room was enormous, decorated in smoky blue and dark gray, the same colors of his pack’s crest. The air carried his scent, strong and grounding. I breathed it in deeply, relieved when I didn’t catch the faintest trace of another wom- an. That alone told me he meant what he said about staying faithful and that he had never been with anyone since Liza.
He wrapped his arms around me and kissed me gently before excusing himself to his office. “Two hours,” he promised. “Once I’m done with the paperwork, then I’ll see you in the dining room at noon. The pack already knows you’re here so you can go basically anywhere you like, no one will stop you”
I nodded, grateful for the freedom. Once he left, I decided to explore the packhouse on my own.
The place was vast, just as big as the Shadow blades pack house, if not bigger. It had five full floors of rooms, halls, and facilities. Lyra and Lanie were already busy elsewhere exploring so this little adventure was mine alone.
Yours alone? Aurora’s voice resounded telepathically. I’m here too, y’know and If trouble comes, I’ll take care of it.
I smiled. How could I ever forget you, Aurora.
I wandered the halls, observing the architecture, the subtle details that spoke of history and pride. Every corner I turned, I caught curious glances from warriors and staff. But none dared approach me.
Time slipped by without me realizing it. Before long, I found myself farther from the packhouse than I intended. On my way back I wandered across one of the training grounds.
Four girls quickly stepped out from the training grounds and blocked my path. The one in front, obviously the leader, stepped closer.
“So you’re the new Luna,” she sneered. And looked at me like I was filth. “I don’t see what’s so special. You’re not even fit to be an Omega’s mate, let alone his.”
I studied her calmly, arching a brow. “And you are? Maybe you might wanna get a closer look”
She moved closer, until we were almost nose to nose. She was shorter, so she had to tilt her head back to meet my eyes, and I could see the frustration burn hotter in her expression because of it.
Behind me, two of her friends circled. Before I could react, they grabbed my arms, holding them tightly.
The leader’s gaze shifted into wolf eyes, her wolf slipping forward to try and intimidate me.
“I heard you had my bed friend locked up,” she spat. “Clarisse told me you’d be here. She said you attacked her and tossed her in your dungeon. Now I’m going to avenge her.”
It all made sense now, she was Clarisse’s friend. No wonder she hated me.
I kept my voice steady. “Clarisse attacked me first. Maybe you should ask her the truth before you embarrass your- self. And tell me, what exactly makes you think you won’t be punished for assaulting your Luna on Iron Viper grounds?”
The girls holding me stiffened, they looked at each other starting to wonder if it was smart to hold me captive like this. But the leader snarled at them, and they dug their fingers harder into my arms.
I tilted my head, letting my voice drip with mockery. “I’ll humor you for the time being, so tell me, What exactly did Clarisse tell you about me?”
The leader lifted her chin proudly. “That you put a spell on Logan. That the only reason he’s with you is because of some magic you used. And that once we destroy your pretty face, your spell will be broken and he will run back to her, his true mate. And then she’ll come back as Luna and reward us with any mate we want.” She pulled out a knife with a poisoned tip and brandished it in front of me. “Personally I think I’ll go for Truett or maybe Krew.” Her smile was just as dangerous as the blade.
The claim however was so outrageous I couldn’t stop the laugh that burst out of me, even with the knife inched closer to my face.
