A Lowborn Bitch In His World Chapter 06
By the time Adrian arrived at the restaurant that his assistant mentioned, his face was already sullen.
The night was dark. The entrance was brightly lit, the lights casting a glaring light over the steps.
He got out of the car urgently, but his footsteps paused for a moment before crossing the threshold.
His assistant followed behind, voice hushed and clearly uneasy. “It could be a misunderstanding, Mr. Payne.
“I just heard them mention you, so I hurried to tell you.‘
Adrian didn’t respond. He just raised a hand to signal silence and walked straight in.
The private room was at the very end.
The door was slightly ajar. The sounds of clinking glasses and a woman’s low laughter drifted out.
As he approached, Adrian heard an older woman’s voice. It was gentle, yet sounded confident. “Things are going very smoothly. We cannot afford any mistakes.
“As for Jaelyn… Whether she is dead or alive, it doesn’t matter. She won’t be hindering us anymore.”
Adrian’s footsteps halted abruptly.
That voice was so familiar.
It belonged to his mother, Monica.
A man in the room chuckled, his tone light, “Mom, why did you have to create such a huge mess? I think we should have just taken over the company directly after George died.”
Monica replied with a grin, “I also wanted you to inherit the family fortune sooner. But Addy stubbornly held onto the company, refusing to let go, weathering even the biggest scandals. And that cheap girl, Jaelyn, insisted it was me who instigated it.
“Addy always defended me. But I could tell that he was a little suspicious. During that time, he questioned me repeatedly, probed indirectly, and even hired people to investigate me.
“I was afraid that acting then would lead to discovery.
“But it’s all fine now. Jaelyn’s gone, and the child is gone, too. All the leads are broken. will naturally be yours
“Later, Hay will marry Addy with your child. As time passes, the company and Hay’s.”
A few murmurs of agreement and low laughter came from inside the room.
Adrian stood outside the door, his entire body frozen.
He was so shocked.
So, everything Jaelyn said was true.
His mother, whom he had genuinely defended all along, was the mastermind behind it all.
She killed his father and sabotaged the company.
She drove a wedge between him and Jaelyn, making him hate Jaelyn so much.
It was them. They, together with him, killed Jaelyn and the child.
Adrian slowly clenched his hands, knuckles making faint cracking sounds.
His assistant stood behind him, face pale, barely daring to breathe.
Just then, it seemed someone inside the room had sensed something. Someone got up and walked towards the door.
The door was pushed open.
Adrian lifted his head, his gaze sullen, meeting directly with that familiar, composed face.
