10 Days To Escape My Marriage Chapter 13
Victoria had spent three months in the detention center, tortured almost every single day.
First came the punches and kicks, leaving her black and blue everywhere except her belly.
Then came the needles of various sizes, pricking her all over. The wounds were small, but the itching was unbearable.
After that, it was hammers smashing her fingernails and nails driven into the soles of her feet.
When she walked out of that tiny cell three months later, the once vibrant and flamboyant Victoria had become a cowering wreck, looking like something less than human.
She nearly wept when she saw Sebastian. “My brother has finally cooled off, hasn’t he?
I knew it. I knew he couldn’t bear to see me suffer.”
She laughed and cried at the same time, tears streaming down her face, cradling her massive belly like a madwoman.
Sebastian merely smiled, not answering her.
“Victoria, get in the car. The schedule is full today.”
He first drove Victoria to the police station, produced the family registration book, and made her process her removal from the registry and change her surname.
Victoria felt a mix of panic and secret delight. “If I change my surname, William and I won’t be siblings anymore… then… then he can marry me, right?”
Sebastian’s eyes held a trace of mockery, yet he praised her: “Ms. Miller is very smart.
Victoria Harrington had now become Victoria Miller.
She complained, “That sounds awful. It doesn’t sound like a high–society lady at all… Why did I have to change it to this?”
Sebastian replied, “This is your birth name. Have you forgotten?”
Birth name… Was her surname originally Miller?
She froze.
She was already five when she was adopted by The Harrington Family, so she still retained some childhood memories.
She remembered her parents were just ordinary workers. Her father was an alcoholic who frequently beat and scolded her mother.
And her mother, for the sake of a single gold necklace, had sold her to an old man.
The old man had groped her all over. She had fought desperately to escape, only to be sent to an orphanage…
Victoria shuddered and gave an awkward laugh. “My name is Miller?
That can’t be… Even the orphanage director didn’t know. How would Brother know?”
But when she asked again, Sebastian refused to say another word.
They got back in the car. Half an hour later, the route began to look increasingly familiar.
Victoria’s eyes lit up. “This is the way to the hospital!”
“I thought since my license was revoked, I’d never be able to go back… William really has forgiven me. He still spoils me!”
A brilliant smile broke out on her gaunt, pallid face.
But Sebastian’s words were laden with hidden meaning.
“Revoking your license… that doesn’t stop you from going to the hospital.”
Only, it would be as a patient.
He sneered internally but said no more. Soon after, he led Victoria into the hospital and straight to a ward.
Once inside, he had Victoria change into a hospital gown. “Sir said to give you a full–body checkup first.”
She didn’t suspect a thing and obediently changed her clothes, only to be injected with anesthesia the very next second, leaving her unable to move.
It was only then that William walked in, clad in surgical scrubs, a sharp scalpel in hand.
Victoria finally panicked, “William, what are you doing?”
“Don’t you know exactly what I’m doing?
I’m performing surgery.”
William’s voice was cold and detached; he looked at her as if she were a pig for slaughter.
“No, no… William, you can’t do this!
I’m not sick! You can’t just operate on me!”
Victoria was seized by panic.
“Why not?
I wrote this treatment plan myself, and your biological parents have signed off on it.”
“They even said that as long as the price is right, they’ll sign whatever diagnosis I write.”
William finally smiled, his usually lifeless eyes suddenly lighting up with a manic gleam.
“This is everything you did to Isabella. Now it’s your turn to experience it… I imagine Isabella would be pleased.”
With that, he ordered the nurse to administer the drugs.
Victoria saw what it was–a drug designed to heighten pain sensitivity… She screamed frantically in terror, but it was futile.
She was finally tasting the same suffering Isabella had endured.
It was just a pity she lacked Isabella’s resilience.
She passed out quickly, only to be slapped awake by the nurse.
“No passing out!
Chief said you must endure every bit of the pain–not a second less!”
Bloodcurdling screams echoed through the secret operating room on the top floor of The Harrington Group.
