10 Days To Escape My Marriage Chapter 12

10 Days To Escape My Marriage Chapter 12

While chaos erupted back home, Isabella had safely arrived in America

Walking out of the airport, she saw a massive banner.

[Tremble, mortals! The True Goddess has descended upon America!]

Beside this mortifying banner stood a life–sized cutout of her, along with a name board

Isabella stood at the exit, face dark, caught between wanting to leave and wanting to hide.

But the person holding the banner had already spotted her and came charging over with a cheer “Goddess!

Isabella, baby! I missed you so much! Boohoo-”

The petite girl threw herself into Isabella’s arms, nearly knocking her over.

Isabella sighed helplessly. “Samantha Sullivan, this is too much.”

Yet, the gloom that had shrouded her heart for four years lifted slightly, letting a ray of sunlight in.

Samantha, her best friend from university.

They used to be inseparable, joining the Historical Reenactment Society, cosplaying, and attending events together.

Back then, she portrayed many “fragile historical beauties.” Samantha was her loyal fan, photographer, and manager.

It was during that time that Isabella, the “Fragile Beauty,” shot to fame.

Unfortunately, she then met William.

The Harrington family was strict. William, gently but forcibly, shut down her social media and made her quit the scene.

Then came the long illness… Isabella never saw another day of freedom.

Samantha went to America after graduation. They kept in touch, and when she heard Isabella was coming, she insisted on picking her up.

“Isabella, you’ve lost so much weight…”

After the hug, Samantha couldn’t smile anymore.

She hadn’t wanted to cry and make Isabella sadder after learning the truth, but she couldn’t hold it back.

Eyes red, Samantha said indignantly, “You can relax now that you’re in America!

The Sullivans are just as good as the Harringtons. We won’t let that Harrington bastard bully you ever again!”

Isabella smiled and wiped away Samantha’s tears.

“I’m just grateful you’re taking me in… Samantha, I’ll pay you back.”

“What are you talking about!”

Samantha scolded playfully, “Four years of sisterhood, and you say that to me?”

But after saying that, her eyes darted around playfully. “However… if you’d be willing to take a few photos of me, I’d be eternally grateful~~”

This was their unspoken understanding.

Whenever one owed the other a favor, one would repay by taking photos, the other by modeling… the only difference was whose clothes they wore.

But this time, Isabella didn’t agree immediately.

She thought of the wounds covering her body and twitched the corner of her mouth into a bitter smile.

“Taking photos… I’m afraid I can’t do that anymore.”

Samantha noticed her expression was off and didn’t dare ask more, forcing a smile instead. “Oh right, look at my brain. Recovering your health is the most important thing right now.”

Afterward, she took Isabella to check into the private sanatorium owned by the Sullivan family.

It was established for the ultra–wealthy; not only did famous doctors from various countries come for consultations, but the facilities were also fully equipped.

Although Isabella was extremely disappointed with hospitals in general, once she moved in, she was won over by their professionalism.

When she left the Harrington family, Arthur had given her a trust fund worth a billion.

It could be withdrawn over three years, with the sole condition that she never remarry William.

That condition… couldn’t be simpler for her.

The sanatorium was surrounded by picturesque hills and clear waters, lush with flowers and grass. Isabella took a deep breath, feeling her spirit lift.

She now had money, time, and her best friend by her side.

In the future, she only needed to focus on recovering her health and enjoying life.

Isabella began her long road to recovery in America.

Having cut off all her domestic accounts, she had no idea that William was going mad looking for her.

In just three short months, he flew to America countless times, setting foot in almost every city.

But in America, famous for its vast lands and sparse population, finding one small person without a direction was harder than finding a needle in a haystack.

William became increasingly anxious and haggard.

He had assumed Isabella couldn’t live without him, that she needed his care.

Only now did he realize with a shock that the one who couldn’t let go… was him.

Since childhood, William had been the golden boy in everyone’s eyes.

As the heir to a wealthy dynasty and part of a sole heir lineage, behind the halo lay a heavy burden of responsibility.

He had never disappointed anyone: excellent grades, filial to his parents, caring for his adopted sister… yet his heart had never known a single day of ease.

Until he met Isabella.

She was like a quietly growing plant; she didn’t fuss or make noise. Her mere silent existence gave him a sense of peace he had never felt before.

At the hospital, he could always see her silhouette in the ward; when studying documents late at night, there was always hot tea she thoughtfully handed him; when he was too busy to eat, she was always the one worrying about his stomach trouble.

But in these three months without her, William suffered sleepless nights, feeling only emptiness everywhere, not knowing what to do with himself.

Flying back from America once again, his assistant picked him up with a piece of news.

“Sir, the verdict for Victoria has come down… five years.”

“She got off easy.”

William snorted coldly. “If it weren’t for her, Isabella wouldn’t have left me.”

Three months of searching had allowed too many dark emotions to accumulate, finally reminding him of how all this had started.

Not enough… the punishment was nowhere near enough

Isabella had suffered so much–four full years of treatment. Since getting together with him, she hadn’t known a single day of peace.

So why should Victoria, the one who tormented her, get off with only three months of suffering?

He suddenly spoke up: “Arrange medical parole for Victoria. Have her admitted to Harrington Medical Center.”

“It’s time to settle the debts she owes Isabella.”
