A flash of bewilderment crossed Tyron’s eyes.
A lawyer?
And it has something to do with Katniss?
He casually took the brown paper bag, but before he could open it, his confidant spoke again: “Tyron, there’s some- thing suspicious about the factory explosion case, and also about your overseas-”
Bang-!
Tyron suddenly stepped back, knocking over the chair behind him.
Benjamin instinctively glanced at the opened document in Tyron’s hand, and his eyes widened instantly.
“Divorce agreement? When did you divorce Katniss again?!”
Tyron’s face was deathly pale, his whole body stiff, even his tongue felt numb and wooden.
Suddenly, he remembered that day when he wanted to bring Anastasia home, and Katniss disagreed.
Her face was pale, her heart utterly broken, as she said to him: “Fine, if you want to protect her, let’s get divorced.”
He had thought… it was just something she said in anger…
He hadn’t even taken it seriously at all.
That time diving, it was a near–death experience.
He shoved the respirator into Katniss’s mouth; at that moment, he truly would rather die himself, just to give Katniss the chance to live.
In the hospital, Katniss watched over him day and night, until he was completely out of danger.
The instant he opened his eyes, she broke down, crying like a person made of tears.
Tyron knew her struggle, knew her pain, and knew that all of it was caused by him.
He swore to Katniss that he would never let her down again in his life.
But such a vow…
He didn’t keep it.
He broke his promise again.
Tyron’s lips were dry, his tongue seemed glued to the roof of his mouth, unable to speak.
The belated regret felt like a knife twisting in his flesh, Tyron gasped for air, and tears fell in big drops.
“…Tyron, please restrain your grief! Katniss and Leon, even in heaven, wouldn’t want to see you like this!”
Every breath he exhaled was trembling from pain, yet he shook his head forcefully.
“Katy hates me, Leon surely hates me too! I’m not a good husband, and even less a good father!”
The agreement and Certificate of Divorce were crushed and deformed in his hands, Tyron’s eyes seemed stained with blood.
He clenched his teeth, his pupils full of hatred, and spat out each word: “Anastasia, where is she?!”
Ignoring his high fever and weakness, Tyron resolutely got into Benjamin’s car and arrived outside the house he had bought for Anastasia.
The door was ajar, and Anastasia hadn’t noticed Tyron standing outside.
The floor inside was covered with all kinds of luxury goods.
Anastasia, who had complained to him about getting a headache from taking care of him, was now sitting on the sofa with her friends, enjoying beauty treatments and manicures.
“Ana, you’re really something, just a few words and you had Tyron wrapped around your finger! I heard he dragged Katniss to a tattoo shop and forced her to get the words ‘bitch slut‘ tattooed, but Katniss isn’t a pushover–she actually cut the flesh off herself! Hearing this, Anastasia sneered indifferently.
“What’s there to be afraid of? Tyron has feelings for me. As long as I cry in front of him, even if I ask him to kneel, he’ll do it willingly! Do you know why Katniss loses to me?”
The woman across from her seemed interested and shook her head at Anastasia.
Anastasia tossed her hair arrogantly off her shoulder, “She loses because she doesn’t understand men, doesn’t under- stand rats like Tyron who clawed their way up from the gutter!”
“The Calder family is at least a prominent family in Dallas, and if they’re going to do anything, they’ll only do it as Tyron’s legitimate wife. Why should she overestimate herself and compete with me? Getting blown up was practical- ly a bargain for her-”
