15 Days Before I Left Him Chapter 26
Genevieve agreed, and that evening she had someone deliver the invitation and wedding favors.
Anthony unwrapped a piece of candy and slowly put it into his mouth.
It seemed as though he had not tasted sweetness for a very long time.
On the wedding day, there were many guests coming and going, even Colton, who was on vacation, and the others from the lab made it there.
Colton excitedly patted Derek on the shoulder. “Wow! I never thought you would win Genevieve over, you really are lucky.”
Their colleagues also teased them one after another.
Genevieve looked at the man beside her in a black suit, and the satisfaction and happiness in her heart nearly overflowed. It was only after meeting Derek that she truly understood what unreserved love felt like.
The wedding ceremony began. Genevieve took Joshua’s arm and walked step by step toward Derek. Joshua placed Genevieve’s hand into Derek’s palm. “I’m entrusting my daughter to you.”
Derek made a promise to Joshua. “Please rest assured, I will cherish her for my entire life.”
Then came the vows, the exchange of rings, and the kiss. Thunderous applause and screams erupted from the audience. Everyone was offering their blessings to the newlyweds.
In the corner, Anthony also clapped, staring unblinkingly in Genevieve’s direction. Suddenly, he was reminded of that wedding two years ago that ended without resolution. He thought, Genevieve must have poured all her energy into planning every detail of that wedding back then. The wedding planning, the dress photos, the banquet… She compared countless options for each item before making a decision. When she decided to cancel the wedding, it must have been incredibly painful.
He had let her down, and now that she had found her own happiness, he should be glad for her.
Anthony closed his eyes, and a single tear slid down the corner of his eye.
After the wedding, Genevieve was busy seeing off guests. That evening, just as she sat down to rest, Adrianna handed her a letter with a strange expression. “Anthony asked me to give this to you, and to wish you a happy marriage.”
After saying this, Adrianna patted her shoulder and walked away.
Only then did Genevieve remember that Anthony had said he would attend the wedding yesterday, but she had not seen him at all today.
She opened the letter and read it word by word.
“Evie, I’m sorry. Actually, I haven’t completely let you go, but I also understand that there is no possibility for us anymore. You were right, life must move forward, and now I need to go find my own path.”
“The five years I spent with you will be the happiest time of my life, and I will never forget them.”
“Lastly, please forgive my cowardice for not being able to give you my blessing in person. I hope everything goes well for you in the future, and that you have a happy and fulfilling life.”
Genevieve set the letter aside and got up to look for her groom. She had already begun her new life. Anthony truly should go and seek his own new life as well.
Let the past be dead and buried. From today on, live as if your life has just begun.
