When We Met Again Our Son Was Five Chapter 06

Tristan brought people over and had the kitchen door open.

He looked at me, and there was something in his eyes that I couldn’t read.

The second Lucas saw me, he rushed over and threw his arms around my leg.

“Mom!”

His voice was already breaking, and the moment he lifted his face, the tears fell.

“Mom, that mean lady said I stole something, but I didn’t. She’s lying. I want to go home. I just want to go home…”

He cried so hard that he could barely catch his breath. His little face stayed buried against my leg, and his shoulders kept shaking.

I crouched down and pulled him into my arms.

It felt like someone had grabbed my heart and twisted it hard.

“Okay, we’re going home. I’ll take you home.”

Lucas wrapped his arms around my neck and refused to let go.

I lifted my head and looked toward the doorway.

Tristan was crying, too, and he looked like an absolute wreck. His Adam’s apple bobbed, and his lips moved.

“W-why did you leave back then?”

His voice shook.

“Do you know how long I’ve been looking for you?”

Lucas peeked over my shoulder, glanced at him, then buried his face again.

“Mommy, why is that mister crying, too?”

I took a deep breath.

This whole mess was giving me the headache of a lifetime.

Just then, frantic shouting suddenly came from outside.

“Josie, come down. Don’t do anything stupid.”

It was Clarissa’s voice, sharp enough to cut through the entire hall.

Right after that came the guests’ shocked cries and sharp gasps.

“Oh my God, she climbed up there in her wedding dress!”

I hurried out to look.

Josephine’s voice came from a distance, full of tears and hysteria.

“Tristan, if you don’t marry me, I’ll make sure you regret it!

“I’m carrying your child. Are you really going to abandon your own baby, too?!”

Her last scream was raw and broken, and it echoed through the whole ballroom.

Tristan gave a cold laugh.

“Josephine, how long are you planning to keep using this same trick?

“Nothing ever happened between us.”

Josephine’s crying stopped for a second.

“Y-you’re lying. You were drunk that day.”

Tristan cut her off, “I was drunk that day, but I wasn’t drunk enough to black out.

“I also had someone check the hotel’s security footage. My assistant was the one taking care of me the entire night.”

Josephine’s crying turned into sobs, and then the sobs faded into silence.

Tristan’s voice echoed through the hallway.

“So whose baby are you carrying?”

No one answered.

Clarissa’s trembling voice rang out. “Josie, is he telling the truth?”

Just then, two security guards pulled Josephine back from the windowsill.

She staggered to her feet and pointed at Tristan.

“Why are you doing this to me? I’m the real heiress. I’m the one you should be marrying!”

She suddenly pointed at me, her finger trembling. “She’s an impostor. She stole 18 years of my life. Why are all of you taking her side?”

She turned to Clarissa, tears streaming down her face. “Mom, say something. I’m your real daughter. How can you just stand there and watch them bully me?”

Clarissa’s lips trembled, but she couldn’t say a word.

“How am I worse than her? I’m prettier than her, gentler than her, and a better match for you than she is. Why would you choose a fake?

“You’re all bullying me! You’re all ganging up on me…” she muttered, then suddenly lifted her head. Her gaze was poisonous, and it landed right on me.

“Vanessa, don’t get smug. You’re nothing but a fake! Take your little bastard and get out of my sight.”

Lucas was protected in my arms, and he peeked out halfway, his little face tense.

I didn’t say anything. I turned and walked out.

Tristan’s footsteps followed behind me.

Lucas lay against my shoulder, his small hands clutching my collar, while his eyes kept looking behind us.

“Mommy, that mister is following us again.”
