Wake Up To Him Chapter 06
Inside the elevator, the space was cramped and suffocating.
I was pressed almost right up against Quentin.
“Mr. Parsons, this is Jade from the design department. She’s a brilliant graduate from one of the Ivy League universities.”
Quentin didn’t answer, lowering his eyes to look at me.
“You’ve lost weight.”
He said it out of nowhere, leaving all the executives stunned.
That noon, Quentin showed off the power of money, ordering a luxurious lunch for all the employees.
I ate the rice and saved all the dishes.
Although I didn’t want to admit it, this lunch was definitely not cheap.
It was made with ingredients I couldn’t afford, and I wanted to take it home for my mom to taste.
Working into the afternoon, I started having some menstrual cramps.
As soon as it was time to get off work, I was the first to rush into the elevator.
However, before the elevator doors could close, a well-defined hand blocked them.
“Jade, can we talk?”
Quentin walked in.
Fifteen minutes later, I was sitting in a Rolls-Royce.
Quentin dismissed the driver and drove me himself.
He caught a glimpse of the half-eaten lunch box from the corner of his eye and asked casually, “Was the lunch not to your taste?”
“What do you want from me, Mr. Parsons?”
I answered with a question, “If you want me to apologize to Owen, that’s absolutely impossible.”
“What gave you that idea?”
He drove steadily and said, “I just feel that since we met in that dream, we haven’t had a chance to sit down and talk calmly.”
“There’s nothing to talk about.
I’m a gold-digger, materialistic, and full of lies. I have no common ground with Mr. Parsons.”
“I wouldn’t be so sure.”
Quentin smiled casually: “Your company has low profit margins and outdated operations, yet I poured tens of millions into acquiring it. Isn’t it obvious why I did it? To get closer to you.”
Just as I was about to mock him, a wave of pain hit me.
I clutched my stomach, staying silent.
Quentin cast a concerned look: “Not feeling well?
Do you need to go to the hospital?”
“No need.”
It happened to be a red light. He poured a cup of hot chamomile tea into the thermos lid and handed it to me.
“What are you doing, Mr. Parsons?
A cup is a personal item.”
“I don’t mind. Do you?”
The pain couldn’t weaken my fighting spirit.
I launched a verbal attack: “So this is how Mr. Parsons likes to play. A fiancée at home, and another woman on the side.
Oh right, do you need one in your dreams too?”
“I don’t have a fiancée.”
“You even went on a blind date.”
“So that’s what you’re mad about?”
Me: …
Quentin quickly suppressed a smile and patiently explained:
“My blind date that day has business ties with my family, so I had to go.
But the moment we met, I told her I already had someone I liked.
For the rest of the meal, we only talked about work and nothing else.”
“Quentin, what exactly are you trying to say?”
“Don’t you like money?”
Quentin looked at me, his eyes gentle.
“I’m richer than Owen, and I’m cleaner than him. I’ve never been in a relationship.”
“Jade, please consider dating me.”
