Stand In For My Sister As Mrs. Weston Chapter 14

Stand In For My Sister As Mrs. Weston Chapter 14

My calmness, in their eyes, was the same as tacit admission.

Darla was the first to explode.

She charged over, jabbed a finger at my nose, and hurled the most vicious curses she had in her.

“You vicious lying fraud! Where did you send my real daughter-in-law?!”

“Get out! Get out of the Weston family right now!”

Raymond’s heart had gone cold to the very end.

He looked at me with no warmth left in his eyes — only endless disappointment and hatred.

“Kimberly Lopez.”

He called me by my full name.

“I truly didn’t expect you to be this kind of person.

“What exactly did we ever do that you would scheme so carefully to deceive us?

“Get out now.”

He spat out those words coldly. Every single one was like a knife stabbing into my heart.

What hurt me most was my children.

Trevor, Jessie, Jimmie.

They stood behind Darla and, swayed by their grandmother and everyone else’s words, stared at me with a look I had never seen before — suspicious, distant.

In their small world, they still couldn’t understand something this complicated.

They only knew that the mom they loved most seemed to be a liar.

Just then, a shrill ringtone rang out.

It was Raymond’s phone.

On the screen, the words “Debt Collector” flashed.

Jodi immediately seized the moment to fan the flames.

“See? Ray, I told you she came for the money!

“She’s drowning in online loans, so she wanted to scam you out of your money!”

Pressure from both inside and out.

A debt crisis and an identity crisis erupted at the same time in that instant.

I was shoved down to the lowest point of my life.

My husband’s ruthlessness, my mother-in-law’s curses, my children’s estrangement, my rival’s framing.

Every betrayal and misunderstanding flooded over me like a tide and swallowed me whole.

I felt like someone stripped naked in the dead of winter and thrown into the snow.

Torn to pieces, with nowhere to run.

Jodi thought I would collapse, that I would cry and scream, that I would drop to my knees and beg.

But she was wrong.

I took a deep breath and forced down the raging turmoil inside me.

I ignored everyone’s accusations.

I simply took a phone out of my handbag.

Then, under everyone’s stunned gaze, I calmly pressed play.

A video was about to tear open every last truth.

“What are you trying to do? This has to be fake!”

Jodi shrieked and lunged at me like a madwoman, trying to snatch my phone.

She knew that once the video played, all her plotting would vanish into thin air.

I shifted aside and easily dodged her.

Then I shoved her away and plugged my phone’s data cable into the massive projector in the middle of the living room.

The next second, a pale, gaunt face appeared before everyone.
