Stand In For My Sister As Mrs. Weston Chapter 06

Darla was going crazy in the group chat, tagging everyone nonstop.

“Everyone, take a good look. This is my darling daughter-in-law.”

“She’s low-born. Cheap. And now she’s determined to drag my grandson down into the gutter with her.”

“Raymond, divorce her. Now. Don’t you dare say no.”

The chat exploded.

Accusations and gossip came flooding in from every branch of the family, one after another.

I didn’t rush to defend myself.

Instead, I handed the phone to Trevor beside me.

“You’ve got something to say? Now’s the time. Go on. Record it.”

He hesitated for a beat, then took it.

A few minutes later, I posted a clip to the group chat.

In the video, Trevor faced the camera head-on. There was a sincerity in his eyes I’d never seen before.

“Grandma, aunties, uncles—hi. I was the one who asked Mom to take me to here today. She didn’t drag me there. I asked to go.

“I saw so many people out there breaking their backs just to scrape by.

“I didn’t realize how naive and ignorant I was. Not until today.

“I just want to thank my mom. For showing me why school actually matters.”

The video ended.

I tagged Darla.

“Compared to keeping up appearances, I care more about my son’s future.”

“What about you?”

The group chat, buzzing like crazy just seconds before, went dead silent.

With Trevor speaking up like that, Darla’s accusations blew up in her face.

I knew Jodi’s scheme had fallen flat again.

But I also knew she wouldn’t let it go that easily.

Right now, she was staring at those photos, suspicion coiling in her eyes.

A Bethany who acted nothing like the woman she used to know—who the heII was this person?

She made up her mind to dig deeper.

So she showed up at the Weston’s villa again.

This time, she came bearing all kinds of gifts, a syrupy, innocent smile plastered across her face.

Right in front of the whole family, she handed Raymond an elegant little box.

“Remember these, Ray? The cufflinks you couldn’t stop talking about last year. I finally had someone track them down for you.”

Then she turned to me, her tone oozing with fake intimacy.

“You’re not upset, are you, Bethany? Ray and I go way back. Old habits, you know.”

She made a point of bringing up little stories only she and Raymond would know.

Her agenda was clear—creating a sense of closeness between the two of them to provoke me, to make me lose my cool.

Right on cue, Raymond looked deeply moved. Darla, meanwhile, shot me a warning look.

Watching Jodi put on her pathetic little act, I smirked.

I’d seen this coming from a mile away.

I pulled out my phone and hit play.

A recording, crystal clear, cut through the hush of the living room.

Jodi’s voice spilled out, every word dripping with venom.

“Ray, you’ve been spoiling Bethany rotten. You can’t let a woman walk all over you. You’re a man—start acting like one.

“Darla’s right. Bethany’s gotten way too full of herself. You’ve got to freeze her out. Make sure she knows who calls the shots in this family.

“Listen to me. Give her the cold shoulder long enough, and she’ll fall in line sooner or later…”
