Love Fades With Bygone Days Chapter 17

That night, he checked into my hotel. His room was right next to mine.

Late into the night, I could hear him pacing in the hallway.

The sound made it impossible to sleep, so finally, I opened my door.

He stood there, his eyes red, his voice raw.

After a moment, he slowly slid down the wall until he was crouched on the floor, looking up at me.

“I’m begging you. Give me one more chance, please?”

“Whatever you want, I’ll do it.”

“I just want to make it up to you. I don’t want our eight years to just… disappear.”

I looked down at him, and suddenly, I remembered that phone call.

I remembered the cold, dismissive words he had thrown at me.

So I gave them back to him.

“Tomas, you need to grow up.”

“Can’t you survive without me?”

He opened his mouth, as if to answer.

I didn’t give him the chance.

“Because my life has to go on without you.”

His entire body went rigid.

I held his gaze for a second longer, then quietly closed the door.

Early the next morning, he went to the hotel lobby to wait for me.

The woman at the front desk informed him that I had already checked out.

“However, Ms. Vivi left something for you.”

The receptionist handed him a photo album.

The cover was a floral print I had always loved.

He opened it to the first page, and his breath caught in his throat.
