I Was His Substitute Bride Chapter 41

I returned the embrace, a little stiff. Murmured a sound of acknowledgment.

He asked, puzzled, “Aren’t you going to say a few words for him?”

I said flatly, “It’s your company. You decide.”

Spencer looked into my eyes. Didn’t blink. His big, clear eyes curved into a smile. “Victoria, it’s our two-year wedding anniversary in a week. Let’s really celebrate it, okay?”

I nodded.

Spencer’s definition of “really celebrate” was, true to form, extraordinary.

He had the villa decked out like a palace. Invited a slew of business titans I’d only ever seen on the cover of Forbes.

I asked him if it was too much. He winked at me. “There’s a surprise for you.”

That day, as the crowd saw him walk out with me, arm in arm, in his bespoke suit, their eyes unerringly landed on me.

Probing. Disdainful.

Among the crowd, Blair was resplendent. A sapphire blue floor-length gown. The gems on her brooch were dazzling. An unknowing observer might’ve thought she was the star.

Ever since discovering Blair’s schemes, Spencer had, in front of me, sent her a message severing all ties. Blocked her on every platform. Told me, guilty, that due to his parents’ interference, he couldn’t touch Blair yet. But he would never see her again.

However, he was steadily taking over the Prescott Group. The day his parents fully relinquished control, he’d settle accounts with Blair thoroughly.
