I Signed With The Wrong Husband Chapter 14
A month later, Henrietta and Cedric’s wedding was held in the company auditorium.
The auditorium was filled with guests, all of them important figures from the company.
Henrietta, dressed in a custom–made wedding gown, walked arm in arm with Cedric toward the end of the red carpet, her face beaming with happiness.
Sylvester had come in secret, standing under a large tree outside the auditorium.
From a distance, he watched the scene inside the auditorium, listening to the applause and cheers coming from within, his eyes gradually filling with tears.
He knew that he no longer had the right to stand by her side.
At that moment, a woman wearing a mask suddenly rushed over, holding a large bottle in her arms–it was Miranda.
Several hideous scars marked her face, her eyes were full of resentment, and she screamed, “Henrietta! I won’t let you have it easy! You ruined everything for me, so I’m going to ruin your wedding!”
Sylvester’s pupils contracted, and without thinking, he rushed forward to stop her.
The bottle in Miranda’s hand fell to the ground, spilling concentrated sulfuric acid that sizzled as it hit the floor, releasing pungent white smoke.
“Miranda, you’re insane!” Sylvester gripped her arm tightly, refusing to let her get near the auditorium.
Miranda struggled, her eyes wild: “I’m insane? You all drove me to this! If it weren’t for Henrietta, you would have loved me! If not for her, I would already be Mrs. Payne! Why are you stopping me? Don’t you hate her too? If we ruin her wedding together, she’ll come back to you!”
“You’re wrong,” Sylvester’s voice was low and weary. “I’ve never hated her. I only hate myself. No one is allowed to ruin her wedding.”
The sound of vows came from inside the auditorium, and Henrietta’s voice rang out clearly: “I do.”
Hearing those words, Sylvester felt a sharp pain in his heart. In that moment of distraction, Miranda suddenly pulled a fruit knife from her pocket and stabbed it hard into his abdomen.
“Then go die! You can die with her!” Miranda screamed, trying to stab him a second time.
Enduring the intense pain, Sylvester grabbed her wrist and pinned her to the ground..
Hearing the commotion, the security guards rushed over and quickly subdued the frenzied Miranda.
Sylvester leaned against the tree, blood pouring from his abdomen and staining his clothes, his vision gradually blurring.
At that moment. Henrietta and Cedric came out.
Seeing the blood on the ground and Sylvester collapsed under the tree, Henrietta paused, her expression complicated.
Cedric frowned and ordered the security guards, “Take Miranda away. She is never to appear here again for the rest of her life.”
Then he instructed the doctors to come and treat Sylvester.
Sylvester looked at Henrietta, using the last of his strength to raise his hand, his voice weak: “Hattie… I’m sorry… can you… forgive me…” As soon as he finished speaking, a mouthful of blood gushed from his lips.
Henrietta turned her head away, holding back her tears, her voice trembling slightly: “Sylvester, we’re even now.”
Hearing this, Sylvester smiled, his expression full of relief.
In a daze, he seemed to return to his youth, standing at the school gate, seeing Henrietta with her ponytail bouncing toward him, smiling as she said, “Syl, school is over. I’ll take you home.”
That sentence echoed in his mind as his hand slowly fell and he closed his eyes for the last time.
Sylvester, thank you for accompanying me through those youthful years, but in the end, we still missed our chance.
In the next life, let’s not meet again.
