He Gave Her The Best So I Left Him With Nothing Chapter 10
The car screeched to a halt in front of the Four Seasons. Cormac was out before it had fully stopped.
He rushed to the elevator and went straight up to the bridal suite. He rang the bell again and again. No answer. He tracked down the manager and had the door opened with a master key card.
The room was empty.
Everything that had belonged to Sadie — her makeup bag, her spare clothes, the book she always read before bed — was gone.
The only thing left was the Swarovski crystal-covered wedding dress he had chosen for her, hanging on its rack like a ghost.
Cormac ran back down to the front desk, his voice hoarse. “Check Room 702. Sadie Whitaker. When did she leave?”
The clerk typed for a moment. “Sir, Miss Whitaker checked out three days ago. As it was a last-minute cancellation, the deposit was not refunded.”
Three days ago?
Cormac stood frozen, a chill climbing up from the soles of his feet.
This wasn’t a case of cold feet. It wasn’t a last-minute tantrum.
She had planned this all along.
When he walked out of the hotel, his hands were still trembling. A figure stepped into his path beside the black sedan.
It was Marguerite, still flawlessly put-together, as if she had come straight from her award ceremony.
“Cormac.” She looked at him, her expression a tangle of emotions. “I regret it. I regret not saying yes to you back then.”
She moved closer, meeting his stunned gaze, and pronounced each word with perfect clarity.
“Sadie’s gone. I know I’m the one you really love. Can we… can we start over?”
