After Drowning Our Son My Husband Was Consumed By Regret Chapter 09
Chapter 9- Begin the sweep
“Liar!” Gerald’s eyes bulged with rage.
“You seduced me first! You told me you loved me since high school, and said that Lory stole your place! If you hadn’t schemed that day, would I have lost control?! You slut–l never should have trusted you!”
The two of them tore at each other like rabid dogs, exposing every rotten secret for everyone to hear.
My father’s face remained impassive. He lifted a hand.
Uncle Liam stepped forward, handing him a tablet.
“Gerald,” my father said, tossing it down before him, “take a look.”
On the screen was the stock chart of Hamilton Group–a steep plunge, nosediving into a hard limit–down halt.
Below, countless news alerts scrolled.
[Hamilton Group suspected of massive financial fraud, CSRC launches investigation!]
[Major banks freeze all Hamilton Group accounts and assets!]
[Business partners cut ties with Hamilton Group en masse!]
Gerald stared at the screen, his entire body trembling.
“No… no, impossible… not this fast…‘
“Fast?”
My father let out a cold laugh.
“To crush an insect like you, the Olson family only has to lift a finger.”
He tapped open another feed–it was a live video of Hamilton Group’s headquarters.
Employees poured out in panic. Police cars and financial crime investigators surrounded the building. Yellow tape cordoned off the entrance as reporters swarmed like vultures.
“Your company,” my father said, each word like a hammer, “is finished.”
Gerald collapsed, sobbing like a child who had lost everything.
But no one pitied him.
“And you, Tiffany.”
My father’s gaze cut toward her.
She flinched violently, a yellow stain spreading beneath her.
“Your gallery has just been sealed by the tax bureau. Massive tax evasion. Enough to keep you in prison for years.”
His tone was casual, almost indifferent–but with it, he sealed her fate.
“As for you Corald “His smile was cold merciless
“As for you, Gerald…” His smile was cold, merciless.
“Murder. Financial crimes. Multiple charges combined. Tell me–how many lifetimes do you think you’ll serve?”
Gerald’s head snapped up, eyes wild with terror.
This time he crawled at me, not in pretense, but in genuine desperation.
“Lory! Save me! I know you still love me–you must! Ten years, Lory, ten years! For the sake of everything we shared, please beg your father–please spare me! I can’t go to prison, I’ll die there! Lory!”
I stared at his tear–and–snot–streaked face, my stomach twisting with nausea.
How could I have fallen for someone like him?
Meeting his desperate gaze, I spoke slowly, but firmly, “Now you remember our ten years? Now you want me to plead for you?”
“Gerald, hear me well–I don’t just want you behind bars. I want you to repay everything you owe me and Miles tenfold! I want you to live begging for death, but never finding it.”
My father gave me a look of approval, then nodded to Uncle Liam.
Uncle Liam pulled out his phone and spoke into it.
“Begin the sweep.”
Minutes later, several uniformed officers strode in, holding up arrest warrants.
“Gerald Hamilton. Tiffany Lopez. You are under arrest for premeditated murder and multiple financial crimes. Please come with us.”
