Bryson walked me to a nearby restaurant.
He picked out a few things off the menu, then smiled and handed it over. “Babe, order whatever else you want.”
I looked down and realized he’d only picked my absolute favorites.
A sharp pang of guilt hit me.
He was being so incredibly sweet, but I knew I didn’t deserve it.
I shook my head. “This is plenty.
“Actually… I came here because I need to tell you something.”
I stared down at the table, terrified to see his reaction.
Gathering my courage, I forced the words out all at once.
“I wasn’t the girl you were dating online.
“My younger brother borrowed my gaming account and used my photos to talk to you.
“I didn’t even know it happened until I ran into you during my stream today.
“I’m so sorry. This is all my fault.”
Bryson just sat there, completely silent, for a long time.
My panic spiked with every passing second.
My mind raced, trying to brace for how he’d handle the truth.
I thought he might yell at me and call me a liar.
Or maybe he’d be deeply hurt and accuse me of stringing him along.
Feeling sick with anxiety, I finally looked up and met his calm, unreadable gaze.
“So that’s what happened,” he said quietly.
Bryson let out a breath and looked directly at me. “Babe, is this why you want to break up with me?”
I bit my lower lip and nodded.
He looked down, a look of genuine sadness crossing his face.
“Babe, can we please not break up?”
