Accidentally Dating The Esports Pro Chapter 05

Bryson was famous in the esports scene for his looks.

He had sharp, striking features that usually gave off a pretty intimidating vibe.

Right now, though, his normally stoic eyes were brimming with tears.

They were totally bloodshot from crying. “Babe, please say something. Why do you wanna break up?

“Did I do something wrong? Tell me, and I’ll change.

“Wait, I know—you never took the money I sent. Was it not enough?

“I just got my bonus today; I’ll send it all to you right now.

“My life is miserable without you. Please, can we just stay together?”

It was honestly impossible to hold my ground when a guy started crying.

Seeing Bryson break down like that shattered whatever resolve I had left.

But before I could even get a word out, my phone started blowing up with notifications.

It was a rapid-fire string of cash transfers from Bryson.

“Transfer: $3,000. Note: Voluntary gift. Love you forever.”

“Transfer: $10,000. Note: Voluntary gift. Please stop being mad at me, babe.”

“Transfer: $40,000. Note: Voluntary gift. I don’t want to break up.”

I stared at that last message, my eyes going wide.

40 grand?

I scrambled to cut him off. “I’m not mad, and we didn’t break up because you didn’t send enough money.

“Please stop sending it, Bryson.

“There’s an actual reason for the breakup. I—”

His voice shook as he interrupted me. “Babe, what did you just call me?

“Bryson?

“Are we really that distant now?”

A single tear spilled over, catching on his chin.

He looked incredibly vulnerable.

I just stared at the screen, totally thrown. “Huh? What else am I supposed to call you?”

Bryson sniffled. “You always used to call me ‘honey,'” he mumbled.

Did that jvrk Ethen seriously take the lie this far?

I hesitated, totally unsure if crossing that line and using a pet name was a good idea.

But my silence just made him cry harder.

I swear I could actually hear his tears hitting the desk through the speakers.

Without thinking, I reached out to wipe his tears, only to remember we were on a video call.

Heat rushed to my face. “Um… honey,” I stammered, “please don’t cry, okay?”

Bryson’s eyes lit up like a switch had been flipped.

He nodded hard, looking genuinely thrilled.

“Okay. I’ll listen to you, babe. I won’t cry anymore.”

My cheeks burned even hotter.

The whole derailment had almost made me forget why I’d even called him in the first place.

I opened my mouth to get back to explaining the breakup, but a soft knock sounded over the audio on his end. “Bryson, the coach wants to run a scrimmage. It starts soon.”

I rubbed my cheek, mildly frustrated. “Your practice is more important right now. Go do your thing. We can hash this out later.”

Bryson gave me the ultimate puppy-dog look. “But I really don’t want to hang up.

“Can you cheer me on before I go? I’ll practice even harder, babe.”

Giving in, I offered an encouraging nod and a weak little fist pump. “Good luck with your scrimmage.”

He tilted his head at the camera. “You forgot a word.”

I pressed my lips together, suddenly feeling incredibly shy. “Uh… good luck with the scrimmage, honey.”

A slow, blinding smile spread across his face. “Got it, babe.”

My heart did a stupid little flip, and I quickly looked away from the screen.

It was so completely unfair how good he looked when he smiled.

He was ridiculously handsome.
