Abandoned Luna’s Revenge Chapter 66

Abandoned Luna’s Revenge Chapter 66

Dorian’s POV

Jsutin pulled the phone out of his pocket and I saw him flash a genuine smile before tucking his phone away. For a fleeting moment, the sight twisted something deep inside me. A smile like that was dangerous, it meant hope, and hope for someone like Justin often meant betrayal.

My eyes shifted, and I noticed Sylvia staring at me. Her expression was placid, but I caught the subtle movement of her fingers pinching her thigh under the table. She was holding back laughter. It wasn’t humor that made her want to laugh, it was anticipation. That was my daughter, through and through. She couldn’t help herself. She’d be the one to bring this pack of wolves crashing down if I didn’t find a way to stop her.

A slow wave of guilt settled over me. I had built this house of lies with my own hands. My vanity had poisoned ev- erything. I rejected my true soulmate because I thought I deserved more, because I thought I could bend fate to my will. I took Kieran’s partner simply because I could, because I wanted to prove I was greater than him. All those wrong, selfish, arrogant choices were circling back to choke me now.

I needed Justin gone. Sylvia wouldn’t confess in front of him, not fully. She didn’t trust him and frankly neither did I.

Justin’s phone buzzed again, his lips curved in another smile. What was making him so happy?

“Justin,” I said finally, putting down a report folder. “I need a word with my daughter. Alone. So if you don’t mind.” I gestured for the door.

He looked at me, then at Sylvia, as if weighing whether to resist. His jaw tightened for a second, then he rose smooth- ly, slipping his phone back into his pocket. “Of course, Alpha,” he said, voice neutral.

I didn’t miss the way Sylvia’s gaze followed the phone, nor the faint flicker of annoyance in her eyes.

As he left, a thought gnawed at me. Was it possible he had already found his Second Chance mate? My wolf, Duko, stirred inside me.

Or he’s simply making plans to flee before the war starts. Honestly if that’s the case then he’s a smart lad, because he knows you’ll be too busy on the war to stop him.

I sighed inwardly. Duko was right. At least Justin hadn’t tried to kill Sylvia to escape the contract. He could have. The agreement we had forced on him had loopholes I hadn’t considered when we drew it up. Five years. That was all. Five years of compliance in exchange for his family’s safety.

And yet, even bound by ink and blood, Justin had found a way to resist. He gave Sylvia nothing beyond the terms. He stood beside her, offered her affection in public, but withheld the one thing she craved most.

A child.

I had hoped for that. If he had given her a pup, our pack’s future would have been more secure. A child would have

tied her down, tempered her ambitions, distracted her enough to keep us out of the line of fire. But Justin refused. He obeyed the letter of the contract but defied its spirit.

I could not punish him for that. He had not broken the rules. He was clever, far cleverer than I had credited him at first. I almost respected him for it.

When Justin’s footsteps faded, I turned to Sylvia. She was still smiling faintly, eyes bright with secrets. Those inno- cent eyes were weapons. They deceived everyone who looked at her. Everyone but me.

I remembered how we had tricked Justin, how we had exploited his weaknesses, made him believe that him being fat- ed to Selene was nothing more than a mistake. We tried to convince him she wasn’t truly his mate. And in doing so, we blinded ourselves. We tried to make a worthless girl seem unworthy, only to discover she was, in truth, more wor- thy than any of us.

Sylvia waited patiently, tilting her head just enough to appear harmless. I leaned forward, my voice low. “Why do you hate her so much, Sylvia? What is it that drives you to destroy her?”

Her smile sharpened. “Because she has the one thing I can never have,” she said without hesitation. “Despuite the fact that we resemble each other in a way, but she has that. that exotic beauty that makes people stare. When people look at me, they say I’m pretty or beautiful. But that’s literally every girl ever, it’s a generic term, Selene is exotic, she’s sur- real and I feel second best when I’m standing next to her.”

She leaned closer, eyes glinting. “Every man I’ve ever wanted looked at her and they all had thai same look in their eyes. Every single one. If not for my station everyone of them would have left me for Selene in a heart beat. That makes me sick.”

I stared at her, searching for some trace of shame. There was none.

“I should have killed her that day on the bridge,” Sylvia continued, voice almost dreamy. “Do you remember? I pushed her. I thought she would die that day. But somehow she lived. At her party, when I slipped the sedative into Logan’s drink, I should have carried some poison so I would use it in her drink as well.”

“It isn’t fair,” she said, her voice trembling with fury. “Somehow she ends up as the mate to the Alpha of probably the most powerful pack. And what am I left with? A beta!. Just a beta!. I am meant to be Luna! Do you see why I cannot stand her?”

I swallowed hard. My heart ached because I understood. I truly did. Once, I too had believed my mate was beneath me. I turned away from her and chose Isadora instead, thinking I deserved more. In Sylvia’s eyes, I saw my own mis- takes reflected.

“You are perfect,” I said softly. “Perfect, Sylvia. But you must abandon this path. For my sake, for your mother’s, for the lives of the innocent wolves who follow us. Please.”

She tilted her head, a smile returning. “Didn’t you once say, Father, that something major would be needed to prevent

war?”

I nodded briefly. “Yes. I said that.”

“Then trust me.” Her voice was calm now. “My new plan will be monumental. It will shake the foundations of every- thing, and yet no one will trace it back to Frost Fang. Shadow Blade and Iron Viper will bleed each other dry. At most, they will blame Justin. And I don’t care what happens to him. He defied me and that makes him disposable.”

My chest tightened. “And what then?” I asked. “Who will be your mate?”

She leaned back, eyes glimmering with satisfaction. “There’s no shortage of eligible males. Stronger men who won’t dare refuse me.”

And so Sylvia relayed her grand scheme to me. Her words made my pulse quicken and against my better judgment, I listened as she laid out her plan. She spoke with clarity, precision, and detail. Every angle was considered, every con- sequence anticipated.

As I listened, pride swelled in me. She was brilliant. With only minor adjustments from me, her scheme could protect us, could shield Frost Fang and the only sacrifice would be Justin. And as a bonus it would also rid us of Selene.

If the plan succeeded, Kieran and Logan would be at each other’s throats, tearing their packs apart while buying us time to grow stronger.
