Abandoned Luna’s Revenge Chapter 64

Abandoned Luna’s Revenge Chapter 64

I was furious. Furious at the incompetence of the people around me. During our meetings when we were planning out how to strike back at Selene, Clarisse mentioned she had a friend in Shadow blade, a skilled warrior named Harper.

Naturally I decided to capitalize on this and use Clariosse’s agent on the inside to carry out my plan. All Harper had to do was slash up Selene’s face, cut her up so badly that Logan wouldn’t even be able to look at her.

And Clarisse had assured me everything would go smoothly. It was supposed to be simple. But like every other time I had gone after Selene things had gone horribly wrong.

Not only did I not receive confirmation of the attack’s success, but a call came from Alpha Logan himself. Initially I expected him to be devastated over the ruined beauty of his precious mate. Instead it was to tell us that our plan had failed. I should have known that was the case since he called.

Selene had slipped through my fingers again. Harper and the others had most likely failed. Worse, Harper had likely betrayed me. That useless girl had been given one job, and instead of carrying it out, she must have run straight to Lo-gan.

My blood boiled. Jealousy consumed me, even though I had taken Selene’s former mate from her, even though I was about to become Luna of frost fang. I still couldn’t live with the fact that Selene had a more handsome mate than mine and was about to become the Luna of Iron viper, which was more powerful than frost fang.

Lena, my wolf, growled low in the back of my mind. Stop this madness Sylvia. Haven’t already won. You have Justin. You are next in line to be Luna. Selene is no longer an obstacle, so why do you seek her out? you’ll ruin us all if you don’t stop.

I’ll stop when I say it’s time to stop. I snapped back and then I blocked her presence from my mind.

I couldn’t allow weakness to cloud my judgement. If Clarisse and her friends couldn’t do the job, then I would.

I went into town and at a small shop, I bought a cheap disposable phone. The plan I had cooked up was simple yet ab- solutely brilliant. I would have Clarisse send Logan a string of provocative messages from this phone, messages that would suggest Selene was unfaithful. Logan’s temper, his jealousy, his obsessive nature would push him over the edge. He would do the rest of the job for me.

And to make it even more precise, I’d have Clarisse reach out to some of her old friends in the Iron Viper pack. Through them, we would know Selene’s movements at all times. With every step she took, we would be watching.

But when I returned to Frost Fang’s pack house, my excitement crumbled instantly.

My father was waiting at the door, his expression hard as stone. I stepped toward him, keeping my face calm. I fig- ured Logan had probably contacted my father which was why he stared at me like that. “Sylvia. In my office. Now. Justin is already seated.”

My chest tightened. Something was wrong. But I avoided protest and obeyed.

Justin sat stiffly in the chair across from my father’s desk. He didn’t even look at me when I walked in.

My father gestured for me to sit. He didn’t even take his own seat before he started “It’s barely been a week since we were prisoners at Shadow blade, one would think that after such an ordeal the best course of action would be to avoid trouble and lay low”

I watched him as he paced the study. He stopped in front of me “So tell me Sylvia, why I got a call from Alpha Logan saying you and Clarisse planned an assasination attempt on Selene?”

So I was right. Logan had called my father, regardless I denied the accusation. “That’s ridiculous. Why would I do something like that? Logan is grasping at straws. He has internal problems in his pack, and he’s trying to pin them on

us.”

My words were smooth, calm. I had practiced lying for years. Even a seasoned Shaman would find it difficult to de- tect if I was lying.

My father shook his head and walked to his seat. He slumped down on it and sighed almost smiling, “He sent me the evidence, Sylvia. Messages between you and the perpetrator you employed to carry out your deeds at Iron fang. Lo- gan has even forwarded it to Alpha Kieran.”

My breath caught. “What evidence?”

He pressed a button on his desk phone. A recording played. The audio was from when Logan had called Clarisse and

I earlier. That bastard had recorded me.

For a moment, relief swept over me. I hadn’t directly admitted anything on the phone. There was a case to be made that he was over reaching for evidence. “This proves nothing. It’s just words taken out of context.”

I let my eyes well with tears, trying to soften their anger. “Father, you know me. You know I would never endanger our pack. Please, you must see what Logan is trying to do. He wants to turn you against me.”

But my father didn’t soften. “Listen again.”

He played the recording a second time and I wondered what I could have missed. But then I heard it.

Logan had never mentioned Harper’s name. Not once during the phone call. He had merely implied that he had caught ‘my friend’ Yet in my arrogance, I had blurted out Harper’s name myself. Effectively proving I knew who had targeted Selene. I had given myself away.

I felt the blood drain from my face. My tears turned real. I was crying at my own stupidity.

Justin finally spoke,”So it’s true. You planned this.”

“No!” I shouted, panicked. “It wasn’t me, it was Clarisse! She orchestrated everything. I only found out later. I

swear!”

My father’s palm slammed against the desk. “Enough!”

The word echoed through the office. I froze.

“You still don’t get it” His eyes burned with fury. “Do you know why your past schemes succeeded, Sylvia? Do you truly believe it was your cleverness? Your brilliance?”

I hesitated for a moment before answering “Of course, 1.”

“It was me!” he roared. “Every plan, every move you made, I guided it from behind the scenes. Contingency after contingency I made sure your plans always succeeded. And now, the moment you act on your own, it falls apart. Now do you know why this latest stunt of yours failed, like all the rest?”

I shook my head, tears spilling down my cheeks.

“You talk too much,” he spat. “That is your fatal flaw. You cannot keep your mouth shut, and now you’ve handed Lo- gan the very proof he needed. You’ve not only angered Alpha Kieran, but you’ve enraged Alpha Logan as well.”

My father leaned forward, “You are a fool, Sylvia. And when your foolishness finally drags this pack to war I want you to know that it was all your doing.”
