A Wedding That Never Was Chapter 04

Olivia’s fingers shook as she tapped open the security camera feed for their marital home. On the screen, Alexander was already carryin’ Chloe into the master bedroom.

A guy and a girl, alone in a room—she tried to make excuses for him, without even thinkin’.

Maybe Chloe had nowhere else to go, just crashin’ for the night?

But the nonstop soft moans and the guy’s heavy breathin’ comin’ from the monitor? They crushed her last little bit of delusion, completely.

She didn’t rush in to make a scene. Didn’t wanna turn herself into a total clown.

Olivia grabbed her coat and bolted out of the house, slumpin’ onto the freezin’ curb. She waited right outside the door, all night long.

The stuff from the master bedroom played over and over in her head. Her heart hurt so bad she could barely breathe, and her tears had dried up hours ago.

Early the next morning, she dragged her feet back home.

Alexander was sittin’ on the couch, his face still flush with that satisfied look. Used condoms were scattered all over the floor, and even their wedding photo frame had two clear handprints on it.

As soon as Olivia spoke, her voice cracked. “You slept with Chloe.”

Alexander finally looked up, tone full of irritation. “I’m sorry, but I had no choice. She was drugged—I had to help her…”

“But you still slept together! And in our marital home!” Olivia lost control, her voice shootin’ up.

Alexander scratched his head, frustrated, his tone gettin’ even colder. “I was just savin’ a life. It was a one-time thing, won’t happen again. You’re still my fiancée, so quit bein’ unreasonable.”

With that, he slammed the door and left, leavin’ her all alone in the trashed house.

Olivia suddenly burst out laughin’. Laughed and laughed till tears covered her whole face.

She felt like a total joke—actually thinkin’ Alexander had any feelin’s for her besides duty.

She cried for God knows how long, then curled up in the guest bedroom, holdin’ her dad’s photo, and fell asleep.

Sometime later, a loud crash—someone kickin’ the door open—jolted her awake.

Before she could even react, Alexander grabbed her roughly, yankin’ her up and shovin’ her into his car.

“Alexander, are you out of your mind?” Olivia struggled.

His face turned dark, full of unhinged anger, voice venomous. “I already explained it to you! Why’d you have to threaten Chloe with that video? She’s on the hospital rooftop right now. If somethin’ happens to her, I’ll make you pay!”

Olivia looked confused. “I don’t know what you’re talkin’ about. I never did that.”

“Still playin’ dumb? Chloe already quit her job, even asked to stop her funding. You forced her into all this!”

When they got to the hospital, Alexander dragged her all the way up to the rooftop.

He approached Chloe carefully, voice shakin’. “Chloe, I brought her here to apologize. The video’s deleted. Just come down, okay?”

Chloe’s face was covered in tears, and she took another step back. “Mr. Sterling, if that video gets out, how am I ever gonna face anyone again…”

Alexander squeezed Olivia tight, pushin’ her forward, tone beggin’. “Chloe, I promise— that video’ll never see the light of day. Don’t be scared…”

While he was comfortin’ Chloe, he pulled Olivia closer to her.

Right when Chloe got distracted, Alexander shoved Olivia hard to the side, reached out, and yanked Chloe back to the safe part of the balcony.

Olivia lost her balance. Her foot slipped into empty space, and in a split second of weightlessness, she fell off the fifth-floor rooftop.

The last thing she saw was Alexander holdin’ Chloe, his face twisted with frantic panic.

The bone-shatterin’ pain tore through her body, leavin’ her with no room to think.

A heartbeat later, her world went black—endless, empty black.
