A Dark Revenge On My Cheating Husband Chapter 20

A Dark Revenge On My Cheating Husband Chapter 20

Houston City Central Jail, maximum security inmate section.

Daniela curled up in the corner of her cell, trembling all over.

After three months inside, she had become emaciated, her eye sockets sunken, cheekbones jutting out-there was no trace left of the delicate girl she once was.

“0778, come out!” The prison guard banged on the iron door.

Daniela looked up in terror. “W-where are we going?”

“Visitation. Someone wants to see you.”

Visitation? Who would come to see her? Her parents had publicly severed ties with her after she was imprisoned, her so-called “friends” had all vanished, and Xzavier… that foolish man could barely protect himself now.

Who could it be?

With confusion and a faint glimmer of hope, Daniela was escorted to the visitation room.

The person sitting on the other side of the glass left her stunned.

It was Xzavier.

He was even thinner than the last time they met, his face as pale as paper, but his eyes were calm, even carrying a trace of… compassion?

“Zavy…” Daniela blurted out his name instinctively, pressing her hand to the glass. “You’re here to save me, aren’t you? I know I was wrong, I really know I was wrong…”

Xzavier watched her performance in silence, saying nothing.

“That video was faked! Someone set me up! It must have been that bitch Madeleine!” Daniela grew more agitated. “Zavy, you have to believe me, I’m innocent! You’re so capable, you must have a way to get me out-”

“Daniela.”

Xzavier finally spoke, his voice soft, but it silenced her instantly.

He looked at the twisted face across the glass and suddenly felt she was a stranger.

Was this the person he once risked everything to protect? Was this the one for whom he had hurt everyone who truly loved him?

How ridiculous.

“I’ve watched the full surveillance footage from the wax museum,” Xzavier said. “Your movement pushing the lever is perfectly clear.”

Daniela’s face turned deathly pale in an instant. “I…”

“And there’s your record of buying mango powder, and chat screenshots with your accomplice.”

Xzavier continued, “The evidence is conclusive. What else do you have to argue?”

Daniela’s expression shifted from panic to venom. “So you came to laugh at me? Xzavier, don’t forget, you’re an accomplice too! If you hadn’t covered for me, how could I have stayed free for so long?”

“You’re right.”

Xzavier nodded.

“So I will be punished as well. But your punishment is only just beginning.”

He stood up, ready to leave.

“Wait!”

Daniela pounded on the glass.

“Xzavier! You can’t do this to me! I love you so much, everything I did was to be with you—”

“Love?”

Xzavier turned back, a mocking smile curling at his lips.

“Daniela, the only person you’ve ever loved is yourself. And I was just the ladder you used to climb higher.”

He paused, then said softly, “But it doesn’t matter. In prison, there are plenty of people who ‘love’ you. They’ll take good ‘care’ of you.”

The chill in his words made Daniela’s whole body go cold.
