The Esports Superstar Is Mine Chapter 02
It turned out Killian had provided the match tickets, and Philip was freeloading off him.
When Philip left the hotel, he mixed up the key cards, leaving his at the front desk and taking mine instead.
After hearing me explain, he collapsed into the couch and burst out laughing.
“Wait! So, you saw him naked and thought I got you a male escort? Pfft! Haha! How did you even come up with that? I told you to cut back on those short videos. They’re messing with your head.”
I marched up and kicked him, shooting him a glare. “If it weren’t for you, would I have made that mistake? You idiot!”
“This is hilarious! Hey, Killian, want me to set you up with my sister? Since we’re roommates, I can make you my brother-in-law.”
Killian was Philip’s roommate? How had he never mentioned it before?
Without bothering to respond, Killian grabbed a pillow and flung it at him.
“Shut up, Philip! Or you can find somewhere else to crash tonight.”
In a heartbeat, the room seemed to heat up. Warmth rushed to my cheeks, spreading to my ears and collarbones.
I snatched up my key card and fled back to my room, too embarrassed to stay.
After showering, I lay back on the bed and replayed the whole scene in my mind.
Oh, shit—did Killian think I was some kind of pervert? How was I supposed to woo him now?
In fact, this wasn’t the first time I had met Killian. Two years ago, I went to one of his matches. He was still a pro player and the team captain of Yellowjacket Gaming.
Because I left my purse in the taxi, I didn’t have my ticket or phone. I paced outside the venue, then crouched in a corner and cried for a long time.
And that was when I ran into Killian, who had come out for a smoke. At first, he ignored me, but my sobbing eventually got on his nerves, and he yanked me to my feet.
“Stop crying! I’ll get you inside. Follow me.”
He led me to the front row, where I could watch his every move.
He shone so brightly that I couldn’t take my eyes off him for the entire match, and my heart raced out of my control.
I had never known love could feel so tangible, so overwhelming.
I assumed Killian could carry Yellowjacket Gaming all the way to the finals, but then, for no apparent reason, he beat up Darion Henderson, a player from Fatal Reverie Gaming, and his reputation took a huge hit.
As the backlash intensified, Yellowjacket Gaming was forced to drop him from the roster.
Since then, no one had ever heard from him again.
But I hadn’t expected him to be my brother’s roommate, nor had I heard any rumors about it.
That afternoon, the three of us went to watch the game, and I was sandwiched between them, feeling so uncomfortable.
I stole a glance at Killian. His jawline was clean and chiseled, his lashes long enough to cast shadows over his eyes. His nose was high and straight, his lips thin and kissable. He was absolutely a dreamboat!
Sensing it, Killian turned his head and met my eyes, a smirk playing on his lips. “Enjoying the view?”
Just like that, I was falling under his spell. I nodded. “Yes.”
He lounged back in his seat, his brows arched slightly as a soft chuckle escaped him.
Frustrated, Philip smacked me on the head. “Sylvia, stop drooling! How do I have a lovesick sister like you? It’s so embarrassing.”
“You’re embarrassing! I saw you ogling that caster the whole time. You must’ve saved a bunch of her photos on your phone.”
He pinched my cheeks and squeezed them with palpable displeasure.
“Since when is it a crime to look at my own girlfriend?”
“Yeah, sure. Every pretty girl is your girlfriend.”
Killian’s eyes narrowed as he watched us bicker. His features slowly softened.
This match was between Yellowjacket Gaming and Fatal Reverie Gaming. Both teams were strong, but Fatal Reverie made smarter, more consistent decisions and took the win.
I reckoned Killian would be upset or mad. After all, he used to play for Yellowjacket, and Fatal Reverie was the reason for his downfall.
But he didn’t. He remained perfectly calm. Not a flicker of emotion crossed his face.
Philip was a little worried. He furrowed his brows and asked, “You good?”
“What could be wrong? They played well. Those little punks didn’t slack off just because I was gone.”
Killian had been close to his teammates. When the incident happened, everyone tried to defend him, but the public pressure left them powerless.
I glanced over at Fatal Reverie’s side, where Darion stood at the front with a cocky grin, acting like he ran the whole show.
Yellowjacket players had been taught a hard lesson before, so they didn’t dare to stir up trouble and endured it in silence.
