I was a pretty well-known gaming streamer.
During a live broadcast the other night, I randomly matched with my absolute favorite esports player, Bryson Laxton.
Total fangirl moment. I hit my push-to-talk and blurted, “Bryson, I’ve been a huge fan of yours for years!”

I was a popular gaming streamer, mostly known for my high-level gameplay and my sweet voice.
One evening, I kicked off my scheduled broadcast and queued up for a ranked match just like usual.
The second the lobby loaded, my chat started moving at light speed. “Whoa, my favorite streamer is in the same lobby as Bryson!”
“Allie is cracked; she actually matched with Bryson!”
“The guy in the third slot is Bryson. Free carry incoming.”
My eyes went wide.
Bryson was hands down the best jungler in LoL right now.
He was known for an insanely aggressive playstyle and fantastic mechanics.
Plus, he was ridiculously handsome.
He was my absolute favorite player.
“Wait, is it actually him?” I asked tentatively. “Slot three? Be_The_Prince?”
My chat didn’t hesitate. “Yep, that’s him.”
“He’s live right now too. Just tabbed over from his stream.”

I couldn’t believe I’d actually run into him in the wild.
Today was definitely my lucky day.
I was so excited that my hands shook a little on my mouse.
I immediately mashed the in-game voice key. “Bryson, I’ve been a huge fan of yours for years. Could you add me as a friend?”
I held my breath, waiting for a reply, but it was just dead air.
Then the game transitioned to the loading screen, and there it was, glaring right at me—my account and Bryson’s were linked with a Level 99 intimacy rating.
My jaw dropped.
I leaned in, squinting at my monitor, but the little couple icon was definitely not a glitch.
My chat went just as wild as I did. “Wait, why does Allie have a couple badge with Bryson?”
“Did they already know each other? Secret dating arc?”
“What the heck? She literally just asked to be friends, but they’re already a Level 99 couple?”
