After He Remembered He Lost Me Chapter 19

After He Remembered He Lost Me Chapter 19

Evelyn and Winston met five years ago.

At that time, she had just arrived in Britain.

Although she wasn’t completely helpless, the language barrier and being alone far from home left her feeling lost for a long time, unsure of what she should do.

Winston was the first compatriot she met.

Later, as they grew closer, he once teased her, saying that in all his years in Britain, it was the first time he had met someone who couldn’t speak the language, had no plan, not even a spark of passion, yet traveled alone to a foreign country, stayed for two whole months, and still couldn’t manage basic communication.

But she was very lucky to have met Winston when he was at his lowest point.

Later, they made a deal: she hired him as her guide with a generous salary, to teach her everything she needed to know in Britain.

Seeing her aimless, he also helped her discover her own talents and dreams.

When her right hand was injured and she couldn’t draw, he practiced with her left hand, from the early days when her writing was crooked, to gradually becoming skilled, and finally, being able to create perfect design sketches with her left hand.

It could be said that Evelyn could not have become who she is today without Winston’s companionship in the beginning.

But she never expected that Winston would fall in love with her.

The first time he confessed, she was stunned for a long time before she realized what was happening.

From that day on, Evelyn began to distance herself from Winston.

He noticed her distancing, but instead of backing off, he became even more persistent, his pursuit even more intense.

It wasn’t until she told him about her situation with Adrian, and explained that she probably wouldn’t consider a relationship for a long time, that Winston finally changed his approach.

He no longer pressed her as before, but he didn’t intend to give up either.

“It’s alright, Eve. I’ll stay by your side until you let go of your burdens and open your heart. When that time comes, whether you accept or reject me, I’ll accept it.”

Evelyn finally had no excuse to refuse, and could only let him stay by her side.

Day after day, year after year.

By now, she had subconsciously come to rely on him whenever something happened, completely used to always having him by her side.

As the kettle chimed, the hot water was ready. Evelyn picked up the teapot; watching the tea leaves float and sink in the boiling water. As the color of the tea deepened, its fragrance gradually filled the air.

Winston’s gaze rested on her, following her every movement, watching as she pushed the brewed tea toward him, noticing the faint blush rising on her ears. Unable to hold back, he let out a soft laugh.

“Just drink your tea.” She pushed the cup toward him in embarrassment and annoyance, muttering under her breath, “Even tea can’t keep you quiet.”

As night fell and the lights came on in the Wolfe’s mansion, Adrian sat on the sofa, the light above casting a small shadow beneath his eyelids. In front of him were those who, back when the Ellington family could stand shoulder to shoulder with the Wolfe family, called Mara a friend, but after the Ellington family was suppressed and fell from the upper circle, abandoned her completely, even wishing to step on her while she was down.

Mara still remembered the last time they met, when they followed another wealthy heiress, mocking and ridiculing her.

Now, they were groveling before her, their right hands smashed and bloody, their cries of pain mixed with pleas for mercy, which brought Mara immense satisfaction.

Yet on the surface, she deliberately put on a hesitant, soft-hearted expression, tugging at the man’s hand beside her, “Ade, isn’t this too cruel to them?”

She didn’t see the flash of disgust in Adrian’s eyes when she touched him.

“Cruel? If they did something wrong, they should be punished. Letting them lose just one hand is already letting them off easy,” he said coldly.

Hearing this, Mara’s smile grew even brighter. She knew Adrian still loved her; otherwise, why would he capture and torment them so harshly just because they had mocked her a few times?
