31 Proposals Too Late Chapter 19
His voice suddenly rose, filled with deep–seated venom.
“She only wanted you to belong to her alone, and you dragged her into hell, tortured her until she was neither human nor ghost! She died! Died so pitifully, a person so afraid of the cold, yet she died in the darkness!”
With every sentence he spoke, his hand gripping Katniss’s neck tightened, the air grew thin, and Katniss’s vision be- gan to darken.
“She died…” Troy’s voice dropped, turning into a bloodthirsty murmur, “Ana isn’t coming back… So why, why should you, the culprit, still be alive and well, still here risking your life for another woman? Huh?”
He suddenly tightened his arm, and Katniss’s body slipped further out, the icy sea wind rushing in.
Amid the shouts of the two men, Troy’s movements abruptly halted.
He turned his gaze to Octavio and grinned.
“I was going to kill her, but suddenly, I’ve changed my mind!”
“Octavio! Right now, shoot Tyron! Hit his leg, his hand, his stomach! Anywhere! I want to see him bleed, see him crawl! Otherwise-” He pretended to press the gun against Katniss’s back.
“No-!”
“No-!”
After Tyron shouted, he immediately turned his body toward Octavio, “Shoot! Hurry, shoot!!!”
Octavio’s gaze shifted back and forth between Katniss and Tyron, and finally, he steeled himself!
As soon as the bullet was loaded, Troy’s laughter became even more manic.
Katniss endured the nausea in her stomach and, taking advantage of his distraction, struck backward suddenly.
At that moment, the police who had been deployed in advance took aim at Troy, who was holding Katniss hostage.
“Bang-!”
“Bang-!”
“Katy, watch out!”
Before Troy fell, the shot he fired at Katniss was blocked by Tyron’s body.
Katniss’s eyes widened, “Tyron!” Her scream tore through her throat.
Troy was killed instantly.
Tyron was seriously injured and underwent emergency treatment in the hospital.
Benjamin watched Katniss by the bedside, thinking she had forgiven Tyron, moved by his sincerity.
Katniss stayed by Tyron’s side in silence for seven days.
She personally took care of everything, down to the smallest detail.
Octavio came every day; while she cared for Tyron, Octavio, ignoring all objections, cared for her.
Benjamin and the others gave him no kindness, but he didn’t care at all.
Until Tyron was out of danger, Benjamin and the other subordinates suddenly realized–Katniss, she was gone?!
No one knew where she had gone.
Tyron lay in the hospital bed, his face pale and bloodless.
He slowly closed his eyes, tears streaming down.
He knew Katniss would never return.
Nor would she ever love him again.
This time, he had truly lost her!
Two years later.
On an inconspicuous island, Katniss became the owner of a guesthouse.
The door was slowly pushed open.
The man still wore his irreverent smile, “Boss, I want to stay here!”
Katniss paused in cracking her sunflower seeds, her face showing a hint of helplessness.
“6,000 dollars per night. If you think it’s too expensive, go find another place!”
The man handed her a black card.
“As long as you like, swipe as much as you want!”
The end.
