10 Days To Escape My Marriage Chapter 09

10 Days To Escape My Marriage Chapter 09

Victoria burst into tears and stormed out of the study.

William rubbed his temples and sighed.

Vivi was three years younger than him. Since she arrived at the Harrington home at age five, he had been the one practically raising her.

Having received little affection from his own parents, he had projected that void onto Victoria, spoiling her excessively.

Looking at it now, perhaps his upbringing was at fault, causing his foster sister to become overly dependent on him.

He would have to be stricter from now on.

“Thomas,” William called for his assistant. “From now on, the young miss is not allowed out of her bedroom after eight in the evening.”

The assistant nodded in acknowledgment.

William added, “Is the hot spring water ready? Tell Isabella to get ready, I’m heading over now.”

Only then did the assistant look hesitant. “Sir… the Madam hasn’t returned yet.”

Hasn’t returned?

The words circled in William’s mind, but he didn’t immediately process them.

Isabella had always been an incredibly low–maintenance wife.

During her four years of treatment, no matter how bitter the medicine or how painful the procedure, she never complained once, nor did she ever shed a tear in front of him.

Staying out late and making him worry was something Isabella would never do.

William picked up his phone and dialed. No answer.

He sent a message. No reply.

His brow slowly furrowed. “Thomas, send people out to find her.”

The assistant rushed out with bodyguards and the driver, while William picked up his medical book again.

He turned a few pages, but couldn’t focus on a single word.

He recalled the moment Isabella had left that afternoon.

She had opened the door, the red sun blazing behind her, casting a warm glow over her hair and checks.

Just like the moment they first met.

Isabella smiled, nodded to him, then walked out and closed the door.

Instantly, the room was left in cold darkness, with him standing there all alone.

Anxiety mounting in his chest, William didn’t sleep a wink; he paced the study until dawn when his assistant finally returned.

“Sir, we’ve searched the entire area. She’s nowhere to be found.”

His worst fears were coming true. A buzzing filled William’s head, and he gripped the desk to steady himself.

“Could it be… that Miss Victoria is behind this?”

The assistant hesitated, looking like he wanted to say more.

William had already suspected as much. Wasting no time, he stormed up to the third floor. Just as he was about to knock, he heard Victoria’s voice from inside.

“Nurse Lewis, don’t worry. My brother will protect you. Just do exactly as I say.”

“Prepare a lethal dose of sedatives for Isabella. I’ll bring her over this afternoon, and you just administer it.”

“Murder?

How can you call it murder?

You’re just helping her escape her misery. It’s an act of mercy.

I’ve already forged diagnosis reports for multiple terminal illnesses. When the time comes, you just force her to sign a suicide note…”

William trembled violently, his vision darkening from a surge of rage and terror

He kicked the door open, exploding with a fury like never before. “Victoria!

Have you lost your mind?

The door slammed against the wall with a deafening crash. Victoria screamed in terror, dropping her phone.

William snatched up the phone and roared, “Nurse Lewis, you’re fired!

If you dare touch a single hair on Isabella’s head, you will pay with your life!”

He hung up and grabbed Victoria by the collar, veins bulging on his forehead as he raised his hand in the air.

But he didn’t strike. Victoria cradled her belly and wailed.

“William, the baby! The baby!

You’ve scared me so much my stomach hurts…”

“Why are you so angry…? I bullied Isabella for four years and you never stopped me. Why do care now?”

“You refused to marry me, yet I’m still carrying your child… I’ve suffered so much, I’m so pitiful, but you don’t care about me at all. You only care about Isabella!

Sobbing-”

William took a deep breath, clenching and unclenching his fists several times before he finally managed to rein in his temper.

It was his fault.

It was his constant concessions and indulgence that had allowed Victoria to lose all sense of boundaries!

Yet he couldn’t punish her now, she was pregnant, after all.

His and Isabella’s child…

He sighed and released his grip. “Stop crying. Just bring Isabella back.”

She had arranged for someone to snatch Isabella, but they hadn’t reported back yet… Had they already succeeded?

Her eyes darted around, and she feigned innocence. “I don’t know what you’re talking about?

I was planning to meet her this morning and coax her into going to the hospital.”

Hmph, she didn’t care. She would make sure Isabella was dead first!

Besides, William couldn’t even bring himself to slap her. How could he possibly have the heart to send her to prison?

She was carrying the only heir to the Harrington Family, after all!

Victoria lowered her head, hiding the triumphant smirk curling her lips.

However, the very next second, the assistant burst through the door, his face pale with panic. “Sir, something terrible has happened!

Check the internet, quickly!”

“Someone leaked evidence that Miss Victoria intentionally misdiagnosed patients. The Medical Board has already launched an investigation.”

“On top of that, there’s a paternity test.”

The assistant glanced at Victoria’s belly, looking grim. “The baby… something might be wrong.
