Not Waiting For You Chapter 03
He clutched the door handle and went still.
Seconds later, he turned around.
The last trace of his half-hearted tenderness was stripped from him.
“Amira, cut it out.”
He rubbed his temples and said, “Marriage isn’t a game. It’s not something you do out of spite.”
“October 28th,” I added.
“The hotel is booked, and the dress is picked out.”
Suddenly, he sneered. “What did Cynthia tell you this time? She rushed into marriage and now thinks you should do the same?
“Get a grip, Amira. Don’t be influenced by her. We’ve been together for…”
“Tyrone,” I interjected. “The invitations will be printed tomorrow.”
His face twitched slightly.
“Amira, do you think this will change anything? It only makes you look childish and unreasonable!
“I’m building my career. Marriage will only distract me and derail all my plans.
“Are you that desperate to be married off?”
His words hit me like a ton of bricks.
In the past, I would have lost my nerve, rushing to explain and make compromises.
But now, there was only calm in my heart.
His time had always been precious.
He needed to reserve it for important projects and his “capable” secretary.
Such as late-night messages, birthday surprises, and the occasional half-day getaway to a hot spring disguised as a business trip…
I was left with only a scrap of his attention.
“Yes,” I said, meeting his gaze. “My friend is getting married, so I want to get married, too.”
