After He Remembered He Lost Me Chapter 23

After He Remembered He Lost Me Chapter 23

The Wolfe family, one of the most prominent families in Los Angeles, fell from grace overnight.

The head of the Wolfe Group was taken away for investigation due to multiple criminal offenses, including kidnapping and illegal detention, which also led to the uncovering of a rape case from five years ago.

In the end, Adrian was sentenced to ten years in prison, while another person involved received a three-year sentence for hiring a hitman. However, since the crime was not successfully carried out, and the perpetrator was seriously injured and mentally unstable, the sentence was changed to probation, with the price being that he would spend the rest of his life in a psychiatric hospital.

Adrian confessed to all his crimes without hesitation, but on one condition: he wanted to see Evelyn one last time.

After much hesitation, she finally agreed to the meeting.

However, she did not go alone.

Inside the visitation room, a thick soundproof glass separated them. Evelyn picked up the phone, and the unreal sound of his voice reached her ears, making her feel dazed for a moment.

How did things end up like this?

“Eve.”

From arrest to sentencing, the time was neither long nor short—just a few months. Yet as they looked at each other, it felt as if a lifetime had passed.

Evelyn said nothing, simply gazing at him quietly, waiting for what he would say next.

“If back then… I hadn’t brought you back to the Wolfe’s mansion, would our ending have been different?”

She still did not speak.

If he had not brought her back to the Wolfe’s mansion, there would not have been so much entanglement between them.

If he had been more decisive back then, insisting on marrying her or firmly choosing to marry Mara, so many things would not have happened between them.

If only she had not saved him back then…

But in this world, there are not so many ‘if onlys.’

Adrian was the sole heir to the Wolfe Group. As soon as he regained his memory, it was impossible for him to stay with her forever in that shabby rented apartment.

Once he returned to the Wolfe’s mansion, it was impossible for him to completely ignore the words of Charlie and Katherine.

But if she thought back even further, she probably could not have truly left a living person to die by the roadside without caring.

“I won’t deny my love for her just because she has seen me at my lowest. Adrian, what you couldn’t do, I can.”

“I stayed behind just to tell you that what you owe her is far more than this.”

With that, he hung up directly and turned to leave.

Another year, another heavy snowfall.

A thick layer of pure white snow covered everything, dressing the entire city of Los Angeles in silver.

Evelyn, dressed in a wedding gown, walked onto the stage over a carpet of fresh flowers. The officiant recited the familiar vows, witnessing the union of another couple.

“Ms. Rowe, do you take Mr. Higgins to be your husband, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, in youth and in old age, to love, respect, and support each other for the rest of your lives?”

“I do.”

“Mr. Higgins, do you take Ms. Rowe to be your wife, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, in youth and in old age, to love, respect, and support each other for the rest of your lives?”

Winston turned to look at Evelyn by his side, the love in his eyes never fading.

He smiled and gave a firm answer, “I do.”

This grand wedding, broadcast live, reached every corner of Los Angeles—including the prison where Adrian was held.

The next day, Adrian was found to have taken his own life in prison.
