After He Remembered He Lost Me Chapter 18

Evelyn had thought that after what happened that day, she wouldn’t see Adrian again for a long time.

But only two days had passed when she saw him not far from her doorstep.

Suppressing her impatience, she lowered her head to send a message before taking a few steps toward him, still keeping a certain distance, and asked, “What are you doing here?”

He acted as if he couldn’t see her impatience, his expression humble like a suitor who loved in vain, eager to prove his sincerity to the one he cared for.

“Eve…”

The man’s voice was slightly hoarse, and the bloodshot in his eyes was almost frightening. Exhaustion was written all over his face, yet there was no sign of weariness in his eyes—only the joy of seeking approval. Unfortunately, she was not willing to accept it.

“Mr. Wolfe, it would be better if you called me Ms. Rowe. After all, our relationship hasn’t reached the point where you can use my nickname.”

Her face was cold, and her words poured over him like a bucket of cold water.

Adrian opened his mouth, a heavy sadness pressing on his chest. After a long moment, he forced a smile and said, “Eve, even if you don’t admit it, you can’t erase our past. I know you’re still angry with me, but I’ll prove to you that I truly realize my mistakes.”

“Those who bullied you before, I will make sure they all pay the price they deserve. As for Mara, whatever ending you want for her, that’s what she’ll get. How about that?”

He was eager to get closer, but she subtly kept her distance. “Just say what you have to say. I’m not in the mood for your childish games. If you really want to apologize for the past, then…”

Evelyn had intended to tell him to stay away from her and her life, but Adrian seemed to sense her intention and quickly interrupted her. “I won’t give up! Eve, I love you. I really can’t live without you. Give me a little more time. However they treated you back then, I’ll help you get revenge in the same way, okay?”

“Just wait for me a little longer, wait for me. I won’t let any of them get away.”

As he spoke, it was as if he was afraid she would say something he didn’t want to hear. Without giving her a chance to respond, he turned and left in a hurry.

Evelyn watched his figure gradually disappear into the distance, saying nothing.

She simply stood there quietly, and suddenly, a faint sense of anticipation rose in her heart.

Not letting a single one go? She was also curious to see what Adrian would actually do.

“Eve!”

At that moment, another voice approached, tinged with urgency. As soon as the person reached her, he held her shoulders and looked her over from head to toe. Only after making sure she wasn’t hurt did Winston finally breathe a sigh of relief.

“He left?”

Both of them knew exactly who he was referring to. Evelyn nodded, opened the door, and looked back at him. “Would you like to come in for some tea?”

“Then I shall gladly accept your invitation.”

The kettle was bubbling as it boiled water. Winston, familiar with the place, changed his shoes and followed her inside. Sunlight streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows into the living room, casting its glow on both of them. The house wasn’t large, but it felt very cozy.

He glanced around, and finally, his gaze settled on her.

“Are you comfortable living here?”

Evelyn nodded and gave him a smile. “I really like it here. Thank you.”

Winston didn’t reply. His gaze never left her, and after a long moment, she heard him say, “I’m glad that, at a time like this, I’m the first person you thought of.”

Compared to the polite conversation earlier, this sentence was clearly much more ambiguous.

She understood Winston’s feelings, but right now, she truly couldn’t give him an answer. At least for the moment, what she felt for him was mostly gratitude.
