A Lowborn Bitch In His World Chapter 04
The maid leaned close to my ear and softly revealed Monica’s secret. I was shocked and trembled uncontrollably.
Because of this secret, I lost my dearest family and was tortured like this.
“Mrs. Payne, if you just bring Mr. Payne there, the whole truth will come to light.”
She whispered hesitantly, “My mother was once like you, so I don’t want to see you suffer any longer.”
Sobbing, I hugged her, barely able to form a complete sentence.
“Thank you for saving my child and me…”
That evening, the baby suddenly started running a fever, his little face turning pale.
Clutching my child, I stumbled downstairs, only to find the grand hall filled with guests.
All eyes turned to me, so utterly out of place.
Adrian’s face turned cold. He raised a hand, ordering Rodney, “Lock her up…”
I rushed straight up to him. “Adrian, I want a divorce.
“I am no longer your wife. You have no right to lock me up!”
Adrian raised his eyes, looking me up and down, his gaze finally settling on the child in my arms.
I held the baby tighter, looking at him guardedly.
“Adrian, I told you I was innocent. I can prove it to you. I really can…
“Ah!”
I covered my mouth and fell to my knees, screaming in pain, my voice hoarse.
Adrian grabbed my hair, forcing my mouth open.
My throat was seared by the cigar in his hand, rendering me unable to speak another word.
He looked at me coldly. “Jaelyn, you did this on purpose, didn’t you?
“You know tonight is the party where Hayley and I announce the cooperation between our families. Are you trying to cause trouble with that child again?”
I shook my head desperately, trying to explain.
“No…”
He let out a light laugh. “This child is about to die, and you want to take him to the hospital, right?
“Fine. Of course you can.”
He snatched the child away and shoved me into the crowd.
“All the guests here are executives from companies that cut ties with us because of the scandal you caused.
“If you can get them to forgive you, I’ll let you take this child to the hospital.”
Trembling, I knelt on the floor, pleadingly looking at these people with scornful expressions.
One of Adrian’s childhood friends sneered, “She should at least offer a sincere apology. How about Mrs. Payne getting on her knees and crawling like a dog?”
“Just crawling isn’t sincere enough. How about she crawls between the legs of a few of these gentlemen here?”
They laughed raucously. Adrian scoffed, “My wife could never do something so undignified.”
He tossed down a divorce agreement with a mocking flourish. “Jaelyn, if you crawl, I’ll let you and that child go to the hospital. But you get the hell out of my house.
“Of course, you can choose not to crawl. Let that child die, and you can still be my wife.
“Come on, Jaelyn. Let’s see which matters more to you. The title of Mrs. Payne or your child?”
His friend chimed in loudly, “I bet she’ll choose the former. She only got pregnant so she could marry Addy.
“Now, to keep her position as Mrs. Payne, she’ll definitely be willing to give up on her child.”
Trembling, I took one last deep look at the swaddled bundle clutched in Adrian’s hand.
I lowered my head, my hoarse throat squeezing out an ugly sound. “Woof.”
Numbly, I began crawling towards the man nearest to me. Adrian’s grip on the bundle gradually tightened. The baby’s faint, broken cries were killing me.
I hastened my crawling speed, looking utterly wretched.
“Enough.” Adrian roughly tossed the bundle towards me. “How disgraceful.”
Trembling, I held my child, wanting to leave, but I was blocked by the servants.
Adrian scoffed, “I’ve changed my mind. You wanted the status of Mrs. Payne so badly. Of course, I can’t let you lose it.”
I screamed, trying to lunge at him, but was held back by the servants. I could only watch helplessly as he picked up Hayley and carried her upstairs.
A bold guest asked, “Mr. Payne, what about Ms. Griffith…”
Adrian said lazily, “She’s all yours. Have fun.”
I struggled and howled, pushing away the hands reaching for me. They grinned maliciously, dragging and pulling me into the crowd.
“You bitch. If you cooperate, we’ll get this child to a hospital. If you keep being difficult, we’ll just deal with him for Mr. Payne.”
I gave up all resistance in despair.
I didn’t know how much time had passed before a piercing scream cut through the clamor. “She’s dead…”
