Abandoned Luna’s Revenge Chapter 69
Justin’s POV
I had been secretly texting Selene behind everyone’s back for about a month now. Every time her name lit up my phone, it felt like a shot of life into my chest. After she told me she had forgiven me over text, I felt like the happiest man alive. I hadn’t expected forgiveness, not after everything I’d done, but somehow she’d given it to me. That small mercy became my obsession.
We texted almost every day. Sometimes it was just a few short lines “Did you eat?” or “Are you sleeping well?” but other times, it was long, drawn-out conversations that went deep into the night. I didn’t care about losing sleep; just knowing she still thought of me was enough.
At first, I suspected Sylvia was playing me. It seemed like exactly the kind of trick she’d pull, pretending to be Selene just to test my loyalty. But that doubt started fading when I noticed the timing. There were moments when Sylvia sat right beside me on the couch, reading a magazine while Selene sent me message after message. More than fifty texts came through in one night while Sylvia barely had her phone on her. That was the moment I started to believe with my whole heart that I was truly texting Selene.
Soon, the messages became more personal. She started hinting that things with Logan weren’t as perfect as everyone thought. At first, she only mentioned small disagreements, nothing unusual for mates. But as the weeks passed, the tone shifted. She told me Logan was becoming aggressive. And that I was kind of the reason. Apparently, Logan couldn’t stand the fact that she still kept in touch with me, even though she’d explained to him that it was platonic.
Part of me was pleased by this. I wanted Logan to see me as a threat, because I wanted Selene back. I wanted him to know that no matter how much stronger he was, no matter how much fate seemed to favor him, he could never erase me from her life. In my fantasies, we’d both reject our current mates and beg the Moon Goddess to restore the original bond between us.
Even though I no longer felt the electricity of our bond as strongly as before, there was still a faint pull that told me she was still mine. Proof, at least to me, that we were connected. I still loved her, and though she had been angry with me, I never truly let her go.
That night, Sylvia had mentioned something about getting her hair down and hanging out with some friends, but I was barely paying attention to her. I didn;t care much for her business these days. I was stretched out on the couch, when my phone buzzed. It was Selene.
Justin, I had to leave, Logan’s getting too violent with me. Could you come see me at midnight? I really need a friend to talk to. I’m staying at the Barbados Hotel, just outside the Iron Viper’s border. Room 306, Please. I need you.
My chest tightened as I read the message. My first reaction was worry for her safety. Logan was powerful, and I wouldn’t have dared go up against him in the past. But this was Selene. For her, I’d walk into a storm without hesita-tion.
I started preparing immediately, pacing my room as if I were gearing up for war. My wolf stirred inside me, eager to finally be in close proximity with our once mate.
When the clock hit 11 p.m., I slipped out of Frost Fang Manor. My heart pounded the entire drive, every mile toward the hotel filling me with both dread and anticipation.
I arrived at 11:48. My hands were damp on the steering wheel, my pulse thrumming in my ears. I parked the car and made my way inside. I raised my hand and knocked on the door to room 306.
There was a brief moment of silence until finally the door cracked open. And there she was.
My breath caught. She was beautiful even more so without makeup. Her hair fell loosely around her face, her green eyes shining with unshed tears. The sight of her nearly broke me.
“Selene.” I whispered.
She let me in quickly and locked the door. The click of the bolt sent a wave of unease through me. My mind immedi- ately went to Logan. What if he tracked her here? What if he stormed through the door any second? But I told myself that Selene must have covered her tracks. She was smart; she wouldn’t risk this otherwise.
She sat down heavily on the bed, burying her face in her hands. Soft sobs broke from her chest, and the sound cut straight through me. I crouched down in front of her, desperate to take the pain away.
“Don’t cry, Selene,” I murmured, reaching for her. My voice cracked under the weight of emotion. I pulled her gently into my arms. “Come with me. Let’s go back to Frost Fang. If you’re by my side, I can resist Dorian’s contract. I’ll prove to you that I’ve changed.”
Her body trembled as she tried to stifle her sobs. Finally, she whispered, “Before I do any of that, you need to know that. I. I’ve ended things with Logan. I was afraid to tell you before because I didn’t want you to worry.”
My blood boiled at her words. “He attacked you?”
She nodded, her eyes shimmering with pain. “Yes. I don’t want to think about him anymore.” She looked up at me, helpless, vulnerable. “But you. you’re different. You’ve always been the one I loved.”
At that moment, everything inside me screamed to protect her. When she leaned in closer, I didn’t move away. I didn’t care about the consequences. I didn’t care about contracts or wars or Logan. There was only her.
When her lips touched mine, my resolve shattered. I kissed her back with everything I had, passion spilling out of me in waves.
“Selene,” I breathed against her mouth, my chest aching with relief and desire. “I’ll never leave you again.”
It felt like a dream. After the mistakes I’d made after the heartbreak I’d endured, here I was, finally with her.
When she began to undress, I hesitated for a second, guilt clawing at the back of my mind. But she looked so fragile and yet so sure, that I couldn’t resist. I helped her strip the remaining pieces of our clothes off till we were both naked. My wolf howled inside me, demanding I claim her.
I tried to go down on her first and please her, but she stopped me. At first, I thought it was guilt, maybe she felt like she was betraying Logan, or maybe it was just inexperience. I didn’t question it. I only wanted to be what she needed.
I froze briefly when she reached for a condom and slid it on me with practiced ease. The thought of her with someone else gnawed at me, but I shoved it away. This wasn’t about that. This was about us.
When I entered her I focused entirely on giving her pleasure before my own. Her cries and touches filled the room like music. When it was over, she wrapped her legs around me, tracing her fingertips along my chest. I wanted to leave immediately, to get her somewhere safe, but she whispered against my skin, “Stay. One more time. then we’ll go.”
How could I say no?
The second time, I set the pace. I shifted her, pulling her onto her hands and knees, my hands gripping her waist. I tugged lightly on her hair as I plowed into her from behind. I moaned her name over and over overwhelmed by the primal sensation of having her like this.
For the first time in years, I felt whole. As if the Moon Goddess herself had finally taken pity on me and returned what I’d lost.
